To Attend Conferences East
Reverend and Mrs. S. M. Cheek
of the Wesley Methodist church
left Thursday for Fresno to spend
a few days visiting with their son,
Reverend Maurice Cheek, and to greet for the first time their grand
daughter, Catherine Ann, who is just six weeks old.
On Tuesday Reverend Cheek
will leave Anaheim to join the
specially chartered train which
will take about 5000 delegates to
the conference of the Young People's Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church South which
will be hel din Memphis from December 27th to January 1st.
Going on to Washington D. C.
Reverend Cheek will attend the Missionary conference to be held on January 7th to 9th. He expects to be back about January 17th.
He reports a splendid increase in church and Sunday school attendance during the past weeks of revival meetings. The Sunday school attendance in particular reached a new high mark last Sunday night, but those who know Reverend Martin, who conducted the meetings, and those who missed him, will have the pleasure of a return visit from him on January 12th, at which time he will conduct the services during the absence of Reverend Cheek. Other plans for guest pastors include Samuel F. Hilgenfeld on December 29th, and Reverend Demaree of Pasadena on January 5th.

WAKE UP YOUR LIVER BILE—
WITHOUT CALOMEL
And you'll Jump Out of Bed in the Morning Rarin' to Go
If you feel sour and sunk and the world looks punk, don't swallow a lot of salts, mineral water, oil, laxative candy or chewing gum and expect them to make you suddenly sweet and buoyant and full of sunshine.
For they can't do it. They only move the bowels and a mere movement doesn't get at the cause. The reason for your down-and-out feeling is your liver. It should pour out two pounds of liquid bile into your bowels daily.
If this bile is not flowing freely, your food doesn't digest. It just decays in the bowels. Gas bloats up your stomach. You have a thick, bad taste and your breath is foul, skin often breaks out in blemishes. Your headaches and you feel down and out. Your whole system is poisoned.
It takes those good, old CARTER'S LITTLE LIVER PILLS to get these two pounds of bile flowing freely and make you feel "up and up." They contain wonderful, harmless, gentle vegetable extracts, amazing when it comes to making the bile flow freely.
But don't ask for lil' arpills. Ask for Carter's Little Liver Pills. Look for the name Carter's Little Liver Pills on the red label. Present a substitute. 25c at drug stores. ©1931 C.M.Co.

High School Drama Section At Townsend Club
Townsend Club No. 1 members and friends were entertained Tuesday evening at their clubhouse on South Clementine by several young ladies from the dramatic department of the local high school under the direction of Mrs. Fay Kern Schultz.
The play entitled "The Alice Blue Gown" was very cleverly presented by Dorothy Black, Marlys Johnosn, Lorraine Black, Eunice Winger, Caroline Mayes, Lois Boege, Rosemary Ramm and Margaret Gauer. Each member of the group portrayed her part in a most commendable manner and did justice to her instructor. Their pretty costumes added much to the interest of the performances.
Dr. C. O. Patterson also proved himself a versatile entertainer with his short stories and well executed numbers on his musical saw. It was a treat for those in attendance especially when he responded so willingly with several encores.
Last week the club was highly entertained by the Misses Marilyn and Louise Heinz who gave several well-rendered vocal numbers accompanied by their sister Miss Bernadett Heinz. They were greeted by an enthusiastic and delighted audience.
