M., Young People's Crusaders—6:30 P. M. Church News Reverend John L. Cheek, Mrs. Check and baby of Berkeley are spending a week with Rev. and Mrs. S. M. Check. They are on their way to Chicago where Reverend John Cheek will enter the University of Chicago to secure his P. H. D. degree. They plan to leave Anaheim next Monday. Reverend W. R. Thornton of Los Angeles was a guest this week of Reverend and Mrs. Check. The Women's Auxiliary of St. Michael's Episcopal Church held their first regular meeting of the club year last Thursday, at the home of Mrs. R. W. Balch, the president, on South Lemon street. The program was in charge of Mrs. L. B. Easton, who gave an interesting talk on the history of the Psalms. Plans for the program for the coming year were discussed, and it was decided to hold a rummage sale on October 11 and 12, with Mrs. Easton appointed to take charge of the arrangements. The balance of the afternoon was spent in sewing for the Episcopal city missions, and closed with the serving of tea by Mrs. Balch. The first meeting of the new term of the General Aid of the White Temple Methodist church was held last Thursday, with ladies of Circle 3 hostesses. A large number of members were present to hear the reports of the various departments, and to make plans for the coming year. One of the first plans to be carried out is that of pot-luck supper to be held on September 27th, in honor of the pastor and his family. Following the business discussions the meeting was given in charge of Mrs.Jerry Nesmith who presented the afternoon program.Harold and David Carlin, sons of Dr.H.G.Carlin, gave several readings,and Jerry Nesmith sang "My Mother's Evening Prayer," and "Just a Cottage". That there be and hereby is fixed and levied a property tax for the fiscal year 1935-1936 of fourteen cents, five and two thousand three hundred fifty ten thousandths mills (.1452350) on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars of the assessed valuation of all real and personal property within the corporate limits of the City of Anaheim, except only the property within the annexed territories as described and approved by ordinances number 423, 435, and 456, for the purpose of paying the annual interest of the indebtedness of said city, incurred for the purpose of acquisition and completion by the City of Anaheim of a public park, together with one-fortieth (1/40) of said indebtedness. SECTION 2. That there be and hereby is fixed and levied a property tax for the fiscal year 1935-1936 of four and nine thousand nine hundred forty-four ten thousandths mills (.0049944) on each One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars of the assessed valuation of all real and personal property within the corporate limits of the City of Anaheim, except only the property within the annexed territories as described and approved by ordinances numbers 423, 435, and 456, for the purpose of paying the annual interest of the indebtedness of said city, incurred for the purpose of acquisition and completion by the City of Anaheim of a building for municipal uses, together with one-thirtieth (1/30) of said indebtedness.
