LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF SALE OF REAL PROPERTY BY TRUSTEE UNDER DEED OF TRUST TRUST NO. 1045 WHEREAS, GUSTAV SPINGATH, his wife, by Deed of Trust, dated June 11th, 1934, recorded June 28th, 1934 in Book 684, page 171 of official Records of Orange County, California, did grant and convey the property therein and hereinafter described, to the Orange County Title Company, as Trustee, to secure, among other obligations, the payment of one promissory note dated June 11th, 1934 payable to EMMA C. WAGNER, or order, for the principal sum of $7344.70, with interest from June 30th, 1934 at the rate of seven per cent per annum, payable semi-annually; and WHEREAS, default has occurred in that the interest payment due on said note on December 30th, 1934, has not been paid; and WHEREAS, EMMA C. WAGNER, owner and holder of said note heretofore demanded that said Trustee sell said property and on May 4th, 1935 duly recorded in the office of the County Recorder of said County, in Book 748, page 310 of Official Records thereof, a notice of said default and of her election to cause said property to be sold and more than three months have now clapsed since the recordation of said notice. The sum of $7344.70 principal and interest thereon from June 30th, 1934, is now due, owing and unpaid on said note and there is also secured by said Deed of Trust the Trustee's fee and expenses of sale, estimated at $259.00, together all other sums secured by said deed of trust. NOW THEREFORE, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the said Orange County Title Company, by virtue of the authority vested in it as Trustee under said Deed of Trust, will sell at public auction, to the highest bidder for cash, lawful money of the United States, on the 30th day of August, 1935 at Walnut Picking Rates Are Set Notwithstanding the heavier crop prospects for walnuts this year, the same basic picking rates in force last year have just been recommended by a conference of walnut growers from Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino Counties, which met recently at El Monte at the call of the Farm Bureau Walnut Department. The conference was agreed that pickers had difficulty last year in making suitable wages due to the short crop, but their opportunity this year will be favorable with the present better than normal crop prospects. The recommended basic schedule of prices for picking by the sack where hulling is done by the pickers in the field is as follows: 50 cents per sack in seedling orchards and 40 cents in budded orchards where no tower shaking is performed. Where tower shaking is done, however, 45 cents per sack in seedling trees and 35 cents in budded trees are the rates proposed. In orchards where hulling is interest conveyed to it by said Deed of Trust in and to all the following described property situated in the City of Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California, described as follows, to-wit: The Northerly fifty (50) feet of Lots Fifty-six (56) and Fifty-seven (57) in Vineyard Lot "E-5" in the "Langenberger Tract," as shown on a Map recorded in Book 1, pages 551 and 552 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California, or so much of said property as shall be necessary to be sold to provide a sum sufficient to pay the total amount secured by said Deed of Trust. Dated this 6th day of August, 1935, done by machine, the picking rate is 20 cents per sack in any orchard. The schedule is offered only as a basis for computing final rates in any orchard. It is understood that all orchards are not uniform in yield or quality of nuts and some adjustmet above or below the basic schedule may be worked out to the satisfaction of owner and picking crew. A special committee of walnut growers was appointed to contact the SERA officials relative to the large supply of work that will be available when the walnut harvest season opens about the first or second week in September. This should greatly reduce the demands made in the relief organizations in Southern California. Mr. Wormsley, representing the California State Employment Service in Los Angeles County, and Mr. Michener of the Los Angeles labor coordinating bureau explained the function of their respective organizations. They suggested that growers cooperate with the relief offices by securing the full name (not initials) and address of each worker. Those attending from Orange County were I. L. Marchant, representing the Santa Ana Walnut Growers Association; Andrew Smiley, Richland Walnut Growers Association; Orange, and chairman Inter-county Walnut Growers Department of the Farm Bureau; Rufus Porter, Fullerton Walnut Growers Association and vice-chairman of the Orange County Farm Bureau Walnut Department; and Harold E. Wahlberg, Farm Advisor Orange County. 1934, is now due, owing and unpaid on said note and there is also secured by said Deed of Trust the Trustee's fee and expenses of sale, estimated at $250.00, together all other sums secured by said deed of trust. WASHINGTON WEEKLY REVIEW Special to ANAHEIM GAZETTE WASHINGTON, D. C., Aug. 14. Greatened strikes of skilled workers in the building trades insist the "subsistence wages" of Works Progress Administration are causing the Administration considerable annoyance at its time. Delay in getting the program older way is causing further dissatisfaction generally among those who are expecting relief work, for though the Administration has had its four billion dollar work relief fund for four months now, only 550,000 persons have received jobs as compared with the three million persons the President stated he intended to put to work. Skilled labor characterizes the "subsistence wage" of 78 cents an hour a "pauper wage," and insists that prevailing union wages which range up to $1.50 an hour be paid. Labor leaders intimate that the workers would rather go hungry than permit the scrapping of the prevailing wage scale for which organized labor has fought for 30 years. Strikes are threatened in Boston, Cleveland and other eastern cities. Administration leaders refuse to recognize the theratened walkouts as "strikes," declaring there can be no strike against relief. The President's position is that those who refuse to work for the subsistence wages are under no compulsion to do so, but will receive no other form of relief.
