$11,000 FIRE AT GARDEN GROVE
A fire causing a loss of approximately $11,600 occurred at Garden Grove early last Saturday morning when a barn filled with hay on the ranch of Ray Mills burned.
The fire was discovered by E. Bogetti, a neighbor, who heard a crackling noise which was believed to have been caused by the heat of the fire against the metal roof. He investigated and found the hay on fire.
The Garden Grove Volunteer fire department first responded to a call sent out, and they were augmented by three fire companies of the state forestry division, under Joe Scherman, of Orange. Scherman sent two trucks from Orange, a truck from Yorba Linda and a truck manned by fire suppression crew from Irvine park.
Good work on the part of these fire fighters kept the blaze confined to the hay barn, although the home of Mills, a garage, a feed mill and a grain warehouse, only a few feet away, were endangered for hours. Two trucks from the state forestry division were still on duty this afternoon. Scherman said the fire may burn for several days.

OU CAN BUY A BIG, BEAUTIFUL FORD V-8
FOR AS LITTLE AS
ONCE they get inside a Ford V-8, most people change all their previous ideas about the roominess and comfort available in a low-priced car. Usable, interior body space is the true measure of car size and the Ford V-8 gives you more body room—by actual measurement—than many cars costing hundreds of dollars more.
In addition, for as little as $232.55 down, you get many other Ford advantages—not least of which is V-8 performance. If you are driving a 1932 or 1933 car in average condition, you may not have to put down any cash at all to become a happy driver of the only V-type, 8 cylinder car under $2300.
With conditions like this, why be satisfied with owning anything less than a V-8?
Drive your present car to the nearest Ford dealer. He will be glad to show you how little it costs to own a comfortable, powerful, new Ford V-8…and how much money you will save on operating costs…. And don’t forget, you get Safety Glass all around….6.00 x 16 inch air-balloon tires and your state license plates at no extra cost.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE CHURCHES
Chartres and Philadelphia
Anaheim, California
A Lesson-Sermon on "Truth" will be presented on Sunday in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass.
One of the Bible citations presents these words of Jesus, from Matthew: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened . . . Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
The Lesson-Sermon includes also the statement of Mary Baker Eddy from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "I have demonstrated through Mind

WAKE UP YOUR LIVER BILE—WITHOUT CALOMEL
And You'll Jump Out of Bed in the Morning Rarin' to Go
If you feel sour and sunk and the world cooks punk, don't swallow a lot of salts, mineral water, oil, laxative candy or chewing gum and expect them to make you suddenly sweet and buoyant and full of sunshine.
For they can't do it. They only move the bowels and a mere movement doesn't get at the cause. The reason for your down-and-out feeling is your liver. It should pour out two pounds of liquid bile into your bowels daily.
If this bile is not flowing freely, your food doesn't digest. It just decays in the bowels. Gas bloats up your stomach. You have a thick, bad taste and your breath is foul, skin often breaks out in blemishes. Your headaches and you feel down and out. Your whole system is poisoned.
It takes those good, old CARTER'S LITTLE LIVER PILLS to get these two pounds of bile flowing freely and make you feel top and up. They contain wonderful harmless, gentle vegetable extracts, amazing when it comes to making the bile flow freely.
But don't ask for liver pills. Ask for Carter's Little Liver Pills. Look for the name Carter's Little Liver Pills on the red label. Resent a substitute. 25c at drug stores. ©1931 C.M.Co
