Meeting LeRoy Lyon, county supervisor of the third district, and R. R. Russick, in charge of the Orange county recreational program under SERA, Wednesday night were principal speakers when members of Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce met at the regular dinner meeting in the Masonic Temple. C. E. Simmons, president of the Chamber, attempted to get some information as to how Yorba Linda could get $500 to develop the old school site across from the Methodist church as a playground to be usedw under the recreational program Yorba Linda has underway. At present a straw ballot is being taken as to whether the community would spend $500 for the program. Of the ballots turned in 106 indicate the desires for the development continuation and 60 are against such a program. Lyon said the supervisors are not authorized to provide money for such a purpose. On suggestion of Mrs. A. C. Pickering, a resolution was passed asking the Anaheim Union Water company to cover or fence the main ditch that runs through the townsite. The ditch last week was cause of the death of a 15-month-old child who fell into it and drowned. He was drawn to the attention of the group that the ditch is so steep at the sides and so built that an adult could not get out of it if he fell into it without help. The Imperial Highway association will meet at 2:30 p.m., July 27 at the end of the Santa Ana Canyon road improvement project, which eventually will be part of the Imperial Highway, for a dedication at 2:30 p.m. and for a dinner session at 6:30 p.m. at Yorba Linda. Two Appear Here On Petit Charge Judge Charles Kuchel heard two cases on petit theft charges Tuesday. Alfredo Fuentes was charged with stealing $60 from Meripillo Avila, according to Avila's complaint. He asked for a trial by court and it was granted him for July 20. Bail was set at $500. The defendant was committed to the county jail in default of bail payment. Raymond D. Phillips appeared on a charge brought by Joe Ochoa for petit theft of an automobile key. Apparently the case involved transfer of ownership of a car in payment of a debt. The case was heard but judgment was not pronounced at the time it was to be given later.
