PROSPECTS SAID GOOD FOR T. B. PAVILION AT COUNTY HOSPITAL
R. W. Balch, of Anaheim, president of the Orange County Tuberculosis and Health association announced last Saturday that the prospects for the construction of an addition to the County Hospital and a tuberculosis pavilion were much brighter.
Balch quoted Chairman John Mitchell of the board of supervisors as saying that the addition to the tuberculosis pavilion may be constructed by the board of supervisors. The health association has been urging the need for more room for tuberculosis patients at the county institution.
The announcement came last week following a meeting of the board of directors of the health group, when the resignation of Mrs. W. D. Shaffer, Brea, from the board was accepted with regrets. Father Arthur J. Hutchinson, of Capistrano, was made second vice president of the board, taking the place of George D. Griffith, Anaheim who was named first vice president, filling the vacancy caused by the death of James Irvine, jr.
Discussion of the matter of selecting a public health nurse to act as field representative occupied directors at the meeting. It was decided to attempt to borrow a nurse from the county health department for two months, allowing up to $200 monthly for salary and auto expense.
The board received $20 interest on a $1000 bond, given to the association by the Elizabeth Rew estate seven years ago.
In connection with the health group's work against tuberculosis, the following statement was released by the board of directors:
"As the work of a tuberculosis association continues, many interesting and very important facts about the tuberculosis scourge continue to be found out each day. One person in each 1700 of the population of the nation is killed annually by tuberculosis and an average of one person in each of our neighbors has the disease."
“This toll of death and disability from a preventable disease calls for a renewed effort against an age old enemy. Tuberculosis, killing 75,000 persons annually in the country and taking more lives between 15 and 45 any other disease, is still country's chief health problem. But the situation is not hopeful. The death rate can be lower gradually lower with existing weapons. We need to apply the knowledge available."
Weekly chest clinics continue to be conducted in the office of the Orange County Tuberculosis and Health association, Ltd., no 602 First National Bank building Santa Ana—phone 4797. Further information will be gladly given on request."

Tex Austin's World's Champion with Cowboy Contest, in Gilmore Sladium Los Angeles, August 3rd to 11 inclusive, will see the greatest galaxy of top riders, ropers and silver-wrestlers ever assembled. They will fight it out in hot competition for the 1955 premier titles and the biggest cash purses to be won anywhere this year by cowboys under the toughest rules ever drawn for a Western sports meet. Tex Austin, originator of these "Cowboy Olympics," of which he has already held twelve on both sides of the Atlantic, guarantees that all who attend will "get western and stay thataway." This is no "Wild West show" but a bonafide contest to keep alive the true spirit of the West. Therefore the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the Uplifters' Polo Club and the Hollywood Hussars are cooperating with Austin to make the 1955 World Championship Cowboy Contest the best ever held. So it's "Ride 'em cowboy, let 'er buck."

WAKE UP YOUR LIVER BILE—WITHOUT CALOMEL
And You'll Jump Out of Bed in the Morning Rarin' to Go
If you feel sour and sunk and the world looks punk, don't awallow a lot of salts, mineral water, oil, laxative candy or chewing gum and expect them to make you suddenly sweet and buoyant and full of sunshine.
For they can't do it. They only move the bowels and a mere movement doesn't get at the cause. The reason for your down-and-out feeling is your liver. It abhould pour out two pounds of liquid bile into your bowels daily.
If this bills is not flowing freely, your food doesn't digest. It just decays in the bowels. Gas bubbles in the stomach. You have a thick had taste and your breath is foul, skin often breaks out in bllemishes. Your head system is poisoned.
It takes those good, old CARTER'S LITTLE LIVER PILLS to get these two pounds of bile flowing freely and make you feel "up and up." They contain wonderful, harmless, gentle vegetable extracts, amazing when it comes to making the bile flow freely.
But don't ask for liver pills. Ask for Carter's Little Liver Pills. Look for the name Carter's Little Liver Pills on the red label. Resent a substitute. 25c at drug stores.
