History of Anaheim
Officially Recorded In Minutes of Anaheim Water Company,
Which are Copyrighted, 1932, by Anaheim Gazette, and Printed In Weekly Installments
Anaheim, May 22nd, 1880.
The umpire appointed by the Anaheim Water company and the commissioner of the Anaheim Water company, met in pursuance of agreement, and the commissioner of the Cajon Irrigation company not being present, they proceeded to discuss the affairs which made their meeting necessary, after which the following was agreed to and handed to the secretary of the Anaheim Water company in order that it might be spread upon the minutes:
"Anaheim, Calif., May 22, 1880."
"Having been chosen by the directors of the Anaheim Water company to act as umpire in the matter of differences between the directors of said Anaheim company and the Cajon Water company, in relation to the repairing, cleaning and putting into proper order the Cajon ditch, in order that water may be obtained immediately; and from the evidence given in the matter it appears that it is highly necessary that said ditch be put into proper order as soon as it can reasonably be done; and as the Cajon company appear to be either unwilling or unable to put on a sufficient force of men to do the necessary repairs. I recommend that the Anaheim Water company put on a sufficient force of men to do the necessary repairs on the Cajon ditch as speedily as it can reasonably be done, looking to the Cajon company for one-half of the expense of the work of putting the ditch into proper order.
"Signed N. S. Averill, Umpire."
"I concur in the above recommendation of the umpire."
"(Signed) Marshall Haight,"
June 26, 1880.
The board of directors met in regular weekly session. Present, Messrs. Dreyfus, Korn, Hartung and Melrose. Absent, Mr. Reiser. In the absence of the president, the meeting was called to order by Vice President Dreyfus.
The minutes of the meeting held on June 12th and the meeting held on June 19th, 1880, were read and approved. The secretary not having had an opportunity to write up the minutes of the special meeting held on June 21st, the reading of the same was deferred.
Commissioner Haight reported that Flume No. 3 had given way during the week, but that it was now repaired.
Mr. Hartung of the committee appointed at the last meeting to settle with Prudencio Yorba for the damages done to his crops by the breaking of the Cajon ditch, reported that they had not settled with Mr. Yorba, but had left

Income Tax Facts For Auto Owners
Summary of Reductions Allowed Made for Convenience of Income Tax Payers
Certain of automobile operation costs of the calendar year may legally be deducted from income tax returns.
Reductions which auto owners are allowed to make in computing taxable income include the following:
1. All sums paid for car registration fees, personal property taxes, and municipal license fees.
2. Interest on money borrowed for the purchase of an automobile.
3. All operating and maintenance expenses, including depreciation, on automobiles used wholly for business, or a pro rata share of such expenses where such automobile is used for both business and pleasure. Depreciation usually is figured at 25 per cent per annum.
4. Automobile insurance on automobiles used for business purposes only.
5. Uncompensated losses sustained by reason of damage to any automobile used either for business or pleasure.
6. Damage paid for injuries to persons or for destruction of property, provided the automobile at the time of the accident was being used for business.
7. The amount of financing charges on a car purchase which covers the interest on the loan when specifically set forth in the contract, but not any carrying charge nor any amount covering the insurance premium to protect the finance company's interest.
8. Loss sustained when a car used for business purposes is sold outright at a price less than its depreciated value.
9. Loss sustained where an automobile due on said note on April 17, 1932.)—WILL SELL, at public auction, to the highest bidder, for cash, in lawful money of the United States of America, all the interest conveyed to it by the said Deed of Trust, and subject to all incumbrances prior thereto, in and to the property situated in the County of Orange; State of California, described as follows, to-wit:

Loss sustained where an automobile used for business is traded in for a new car cannot be deducted, but the cost of the old car not recovered through depreciation may be added to the cost of the new car, when computing depreciation for the ensuing year. No deduction can be made for the amount paid for an automobile used for either business or pleasure, as this is a capital expenditure and subject to a claim for depreciation where the automobile is used only for business.
Neither the federal nor the state gasoline tax is deductible on motorists' returns in California for the reason that it is a tax upon the distributor and not upon the consumer. Owners using their cars for business purposes, however, may recoup their gasoline tax expenditures by considering such expenditures as part of the cost of gasoline.
The California retail sales tax act of 1933 imposes a tax upon the retailer, and the purchaser of an automobile therefore is not permitted to deduct such tax in making his income tax return.

RPLUS POWER NOW READY
domestic wholesale rate for current. You cannot get this rate for lighting service alone, because lighting with modern lamps uses so little current that it is almost negligible, even with illumination at the highest point.
As Low As 1c Per Kilowatt Hour
The domestic wholesale rate begins when you install and use an electric range and an electric water heater. With these your rate continues to drop until it becomes only ONE CENT PER KILOWATT HOUR. At this point, $8.75 pays for current that would otherwise cost $22.50, and you have all the benefits that come with complete electrical service.
Sooner or later you are going to enjoy complete electrical service. Why later? It is yours, by right, now, on the new and higher standard of California living. You know its benefits, and have promised them to yourselves, when the time came. The time is here. Equipment costs were never lower. Financial assistance is available through the National Housing Act. Dealers offer easy payment plans by which for as low as $3.89 per month you can get the equipment that will reduce the unit cost of current on all your lighting and electrical devices.
Act Now
Ask your Edison office for full information on how to get from two and one-half to three or four times more current at the same cost, without waiting for Boulder Dam to be completed.
