G. G. PRIDDY Candidate For CONSTABLE ANAHEIM TOWNSHIP Endorses "The New Deal" — YOUR SUPPORT WILL BE APPRECIATED — YOUR VOTE for JUSTINE WHITNEY for Recorder of Orange County Will be Appreciated of Orange County Will be Appreciated The Endorsement of W. T. Lambert FOR COUNTY AUDITOR has been made by hundreds of Orange County citizens during the past few weeks They have found by actual contact with the office: 1. that it is well organized and business-like in every respect; 2. that the staff employed is thoroughly trained in their respective duties; and because of this training and experience they are a valuable asset to the county; and that the possible dis-organization of this office would not only be detrimental to the welfare of this important office but would entail great expense in the rebuilding of an organization of equal ability; 3. that the employees of this department are courteous and obliging to all who may require their 2. that the staff employed is thoroughly trained in their respective duties; and because of this training and experience they are a valuable asset to the county; and that the possible disorganization of this office would not only be detrimental to the welfare of this important office but would entail great expense in the rebuilding of an organization of equal ability; 3. that the employees of this department are courteous and obliging to all who may require their services, irrespective of whom they may be. They know that in spite of the greatly increased burdens imposed by new laws, tax delinquencies and welfare demands, that the office has been economically and efficiently conducted. They know that the receiving and disbursing of approximately seven million dollars each year is a responsible job to be given only on the basis of proven merit. These endorsers know that the present high standard of efficiency can best be maintained by the re-election of County Auditor W. T. Lambert at the primary election August 28. Payne Family Is Back in Anaheim Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Payne and their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Payne, returned from Los Angeles after an eight-year absence and Friday of this week open Payne's Penny Market at 130 East Center street, an independently-owned and operated grocery which, through association with a large independent buying organization, is enabled to successfully compete with chain stores. The Paynes formerly operated a grocery here known as "Payne's Market," but sold out several years ago and went to Los Angeles, where they operated the Fourth Street market, and previously the Happy Market in Alhambra. Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Payne again reside in the home they have owned for years at 201 East Broadway, while the son, who has been married less than a year, and his wife now live on South Claudina street. The Paynes own the store building and property which they occupy at 130 East Center street, and have paid taxes in Anaheim for many years. "Because we own our own home and our own market property, and because we are affiliated with an independent buying organization which frequently purchases in larger quantities than the chain stores, we can successfully compete in a competitive way with any of the chain organizations," G. O. Payne states. "We are paying taxes into the community, the money we make stays here, for the upbuilding of the city. This is in contrast to chain organizations which lease their property, and send all their profits out of town." Elaborate preparations have been made for the grand opening, Friday and Saturday, when free tickets will be given to all persons for an electric refrigerator; when souvenirs will be given away, free parking and good faculty of the Anaheim Union high school, is expected to return from China to resume her work here early September. McFadden quoted from editorials his news stories in the Register to praise his contention of communistic support and sympathy, and briefly reviewed Register attack upon him in connection with the trial of a communist in Centia. McFadden praised District Attorney S. B. Kaufman for his American attitude toward radicals, declaring the county is fortunate to have such staunch advocate of American principles as district attorney. Logan Jackson, incumbent, generally is acknowledged a place on the run-off, with Floyd W. Howard, Don Wilkie and Harry D. Riley, the latter running on the platform of "a business man for sheriff," looked upon as the most likely to be picked for the finals in November. Howard is police chief at Santa Ana, Wilkie is a former secret service man whose faithly has been in that branch of the government service for three generations, and Riley is an Anaheim resident who has taken a leading part in civile affairs. The other contestants are C. E. Jackson and Sam Jernigan, both ex-sheriffs, and Art Eells, a former deputy. In Anaheim township two offices will be filled. One is justice of the peace, with the incumbent, Charles Kuchel, pitted against Alva E. Hargrove, Justice Kuchel has a fine record in the justice court during the past 10 years, with few appeals from his decisions and usually his judgment was upheld in the higher courts. He devotes his full time to the position. The other township office is constable, for which there are six candidates, including the incumbent, E. D. Marion. The others are G. R. Caplinger, John C. Martens, G. G. Priddy, Sam L. Snodgrass, and Al V. Vail. YOUR VOTE FOR AL. V. VAIL for CONSTABLE of ANAHEIM TOWNSHIP will be highly appreciated.
