Warn Motorists About Liquor In Dry-Law States
Transportation of "Spirits" in Local Option Counties, Cities and States Violates Laws
Motorists carrying liquor in their cars on trips across the country are warned of the prohibitions existing in dry states and counties.
Transporting liquor for personal consumption into or through dry states or counties is in violation of law, unless the individual doing so can definitely prove that the liquor in his possession is for medicinal purposes on the order of a physician. He must produce a prescription as proof.
The other situation under which liquor may be transported through dry states and counties is where it is carried for commercial purposes and is under the jurisdiction of the U.S. government and the interstate commerce commission.
In any state where local option exists, the state follows out the rule of the interstate commerce commission and permits liquors to be transported through the dry areas within its border, providing the liquor is not consumed for any purpose in the dry areas.

That old-fashioned, all-American institution — the farm family — still flourishes!
On the Pacific coast, for example, the bumper baby crop of 1933 has boosted farm population to a new, all-time high.
And in the nation at large, according to the United States bureau of agricultural economics, the robust farm family outstripped both death and the depression to establish a new record.
Mounting to a total of 1,211,000 farm population in the three Pacific coast states—California, Oregon and Washington—showed a net gain of more than 3,000, despite the fact that 72,000 farmers migrated to the cities during the year and only 66,000 city residents shifted to the country.
Nationally the number of farmers, and farmers' wives and children jumped to 32,509,000—an increase of 267,000 in the farm population, according to the federal report.
Shifting trends of the depression and post-depression periods were clearly indicated in the federal analysis, however, with the showing that 1,178,000 country people moved city-ward during the year, while approximately 951,000 urban residents looked for greener pastures in the country.
Only the high birth rate "back on the farm," offsetting migration and death losses at a single stroke, accounted for the net increase in farm population. City birth rates, on the other hand, dropped sharply, due to dwindling income and the whims of depression.
During the three preceding "depression years", with city industries and business hard-hit by the economic upheaval, the government report disclosed that the population shift was definitely toward the farm.
The metropolitan exodus reached a peak during 1932 when 533,000 more persons quit the cities for the country owner and holder of said note on account of the default in the payment of installments of principal which became due and payable under the terms of said note on June 1, 1930, and subsequent thereto, and default in the payment of installments of interest due on February 1, 1933, and subsequent thereto, there being a total sum of $5,873.58 due and unpaid on the 16th day of October, 1933, and all payments due subsequently thereto,—will sell at public auction, for cash, lawful money of the United States, and to the highest bidder, subject to liens and encumbrances prior to said deed of trust, the following described property, situate in the City of Anaheim, County of Orange, State of California:
The Westerly 111.5 feet of Lot Sixteen (16) in Block "A" of "Tract No. 237, Owens & Jones Tract", as shown on a Map recorded in Book 13, page 24 of Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange County, California,
or so much thereof as shall be necessary to pay the principal, interest, advances, charges, costs and trustee's fees due and unpaid at the date of sale.

TREASURY DEPARTMENT

In the Matter of:
ANAHEIM FIRST NATIONAL BANK,
Anahelm, California.
To All Whom It May Concern:
WHEREAS, upon a proper accounting by the Receiver heretofore appointed to collect the assets of "ANAHEIM FIRST NATIONAL BANK," Anahelm, California, and upon a valuation of the uncollected assets remaining in his hands it appears to me satisfactory.
During the three preceding "depression years", with city industries and business hard-hit by the economic upheaval, the government report disclosed that the population shift was definitely toward the farm.
The metropolitan exodus reached a peak during 1932 when 533,000 more persons quit the cities for the country than the total migration of rural population to the centers of population.
Re-employment in urban industries and temporary employment in government relief projects were important factors in reversing the migration parade last year, according to the federal survey. And as a result the drift to the cities showed a gain of 227,000, as compared with the rural influx from the cities.
Summarizing its findings, the federal bureau makes this comment on last year's heavy exodus from the farms:
"Farmers indicated that the farm-to-city movement last year was composed largely of former city residents, and of farm people forced to move off the land because of mortgage foreclosures, assignments for debt settlement, and tax sales.
"There was no noticeable migration of farm-born young people to towns and cities in search of employment for the first time."
Indicating that California farmers—and Pacific coast farmers generally—have withstood the storms of depression better than farmers in the nation as a whole, the report revealed that the citybound movement was most pronounced in the West South Central, South Atlantic, and West North Central states.
But regardless of geographical lines or economic conditions, the farmer's family circle expanded—in keeping with farm traditions!
Births exceeded deaths by 494,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, By virtue of the authority vested in me by law, I do hereby make an assessment and requisition upon the shareholders of the said "ANAHEIM FIRST NATIONAL BANK" for SEVENTY-FIVE THOUSAND ($75,000.00) DOLLARS, to be paid by them on or before the ninth day of April, 1934, and I hereby make demand upon each and every one of them for the par value of each and every share of the capital stock of said association held or owned by them, respectively, at the time of its failure; and I hereby direct J.
