Bringing approximately $100,000,000 of new money into the channels of Southern California business through the purchase of materials and supplies, work on the gigantic project will provide jobs for about 20,000 persons, including those put to work fabricating materials and supplies, and between 80,000 and 100,000 persons, including the families of those employed, will be directly benefited. Whitsett pointed out. Application for the sale of the aqueduct bonds has been made with the federal reconstruction finance corporation. Although no statement was made by Chairman Whitsett, the hope was expressed in circles close to the metropolitan water district headquarters that action on the application may reasonably be expected within a few weeks. "Today the District is prepared to start construction work immediately upon the sale of a block of aqueduct bonds," Whitsett said. "Plans and detailed specifications are ready. This means the bringing of $220,000,000 of new money out of bank vaults and into Southern California pay envelopes and business channels. "It means the giving of productive employment to 10,000 men directly on the aqueduct, materials and supplies to be used on the job. It is conservative to estimate that between 80,000 and 100,000 persons, including the families of those employed will be directly benefitted." "Millions of dollars in tax money was spent this year in Los Angeles county." EXPERIENCED IN SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION in the district I have been identified with various civic activities, devoting my time serving the schools in the capacity of a member of the board of trustees of Placentia Union district. I take pride in pointing to my record during the past two terms as chairman having brought about a substantial reduction in school cost, despite an existing deficit, of efficiency. FAMILIAR WITH TAX PROBLEMS fitted for many years with the Orange County Farm Bureau, as a member of its Board of regularly during the past two years devoting a great amount of time as chairman of its Tax am also a member of the tax committee of the Associated Chambers of Commerce. This me an opportunity to make a special study of tax matters with the result that I have a edge of the tax problems of this district. TAX POSITION of taxation of grave importance today. An even greater retrenchment in public expenditure to the property owners existence. Tax paying has become more than a burden — the serious buying ownership of property, particularly to the small property owner. In my opinion a more equitable distribution of the taxes collected should constitute one of the first steps burden relief. ECONOMY IN GOVERNMENT that economic public administration is, and always has been, the keynote and policy upon sor should stand. Impartial and judicial budgeting of the taxpayers money is of prime imadministration of this office. The lack of justice or system in the use of road monies within the county to date brings forth the challenge that "something must be done."
