830 Household Arts Exhibits for Fair Women of Southern California and the nation will have the unique opportunity of entering 830 different kinds of exhibits in the huge household arts department at Los Angeles county fair in Pomona, Sept. 16 to 25, according to the announcement just made by Secretary-Manager C. B. Afflerbaugh. A total of 1660 cash awards representing several thousand dollars will be distributed to the winners in the big classification. According to fair officials the display will be by far the largest and most comprehensive of anything of the kind ever attempted in the southland. Practically every phase of feminine endeavor in the home will be represented. There are 422 classifications in the needlework division alone while the culinary section offers an opportunity for 254 different kinds of entries from bread to candied fruits. An innovation in the department and one which has already attracted wide attention is the section for the display of antiques and unusual hobbies of women. Already these departments have been the means of bringing to light some rare treasures. Seasonal sales have run their course. Shoppers no longer in the market places in search of sums commodities. A new season approaches. It is they who spend, or rectly control the spending of 85% of the family come. They are not organized in regular number jury form, but they constitute a community body exacting and are yet more discriminating in the judgment than a picked twelve. Yorba Linda to Pay $12,000 This Friday Checks totaling $12,000 will be mailed out Friday to members of the Yorba Linda Citrus association, according to Manager P. W. Damon. The payments are on lemons, the third to be made this year. Shipments from Yorba Linda declined a little this week from last week, with four carloads of lemons and six carloads of oranges making the total. Failure of the pro-rate agreement has caused more shipping of smaller oranges, which has hurt the market somewhat. to be entered among the antiques must be at least 75 years old. Served as the "meat" with almost any green vegetable, delicious. 1 cupful of canned or green corn from the cob 1 beaten egg, flour, salt, pepper Put the corn in a bowl, add the beaten egg, and just enough sugar to make rather thick. Seal and if too thick to drop easily fill a spoon, add a little milk. Fry in fat, turning as soon as one side brown. A good furniture polish may be made by mixing equal parts of lime oil and vinegar. Shake well, and ap with soft cloth, then rub dry with clean soft cloth. When marking household linen, writing, or printing, if that is a manner of marking one prefers—wash a lead pencil, then tracing directly over the pencil marks with a pen and making ink. I am told that the ink will "run" making that blotty looking we so often see on linen. Do you know that to get the results, a nutmeg should be grated from the blossom end? A tablespoonful of vinegar milled with the basting water placed in roasting pan with meat or fowl tend to make the roast more tender. Rev. Schraeder Service Speaker Rev. Samuel E. Schraeder of Salem Evangelical church will deliver Miss Schweinfest Is Married to Brunskill Scores of friends this week wished happiness to the former Miss Elizabeth Schweinfest, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schweinfest of 124 North Janss street, who Tuesday morning married Donovan Brunskill at the Methodist parsonage at Long Beach. Only the bride's parents and aunt, Mrs. Emma Newmeister, attended the ceremony. After the marriage the newly-weds left for Wilmington, where they took the steamer for Santa Catalina island, to remain until shortly before school begins in September. They will return to make their home at Fullerton, where the groom is an instructor in the union high school. Mrs. Brunskill also taught at the same school. The bride was graduated from Anaheim schools, later going to the University of California at Los Angeles. She came to Anaheim when a child, and is well known in this district. The groom was educated in Oklahoma. Mayor Walker gets about one threatening letter a year. Other mayors received dozens. But all sorts of people bring in complaints. One woman lost two trunks eight years ago and she wants the mayor to do something about it. WANT ADS RATE: Five cents the llno (count five words to the line) for each insertion.
