BIRTHDAY PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Maas entertained at dinner on Sunday evening in honor of the birthday of James Whitaker, brother of the hostess. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. ENTERTAIN TULANE PLAYER Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Coons entertained at a family dinner at 1:30 o'clock on Christmas day. Covers were laid for fourteen. An old fashioned southern Christmas dinner was prepared by the hostess. The guest of honor was Francis Payne of Mississippi, a member of the Tulane football team. Mr. Payne is a relative of Mrs. Coons, being a cousin of the late Victor Montgomery of Santa Ana. Mrs. Victor Montgomery and her two daughters Misses Gertrude and Louise Montgomery were unable to be present because of the illness of Mrs. Montgomery. After dinner Mr. Payne was taken by his cousin Tarver Montgomery to Tustin and Santa Ana where a short time was spent visiting other relatives before returning to the Huntington hotel in Pasadena where the Green Wave has headquarters. TROJAN BAND TO LEAD TOURNAMENT PARADE Receiving the honor for the second time within the last three years, University of Southern California's famous band under the direction of Harold William Roberts will lead the 43rd annual Pasadena Tournament of Roses parade on New Year's day. It was on New Year's Day in 1930 that the Trojan band nationally known through its unique marching formations and stunts presented between halves of Southern California football games had the honor of leading the historic flower page for the first time. Members of the band will march in their colorful Cossack uniforms of bright gold blouses and white flannel trousers and will perform at the Southern California-Tulane football game in the Rose Bowl. LUCERO AND GONZALES MOVE TO NEW QUARTERS The store of Lucero and Gonzales, which for three years has been at 117 East Center, now is established in its new and larger quarters at 136 East Center street. Manager A. R. Gonzales began directing the removal of stock, fixtures and equipment from the old location Saturday evening and by Tuesday most of the stock had been moved. The store stayed open for business every day. "We have taken a three-year lease on the larger quarters," Mr. Gonzales stated. "That shows our faith in Anahelen and surrounding territory. We were located in the old place three years. We confidently expect an increase of business, and know that we will be in a position to offer more service."
