Anaheim Social and Personal Relief Fund is Started by Faculty The instructors of Union high school have voluntarily agreed to give two percent of their salaries each month to a fund to help relieve unemployment among their own pupils. Every member of the faculty will contribute, which will yield about $200 a month. A special committee has been appointed to suggest a plan which will be adaptable and careful investigations will be made while the fund is being applied from Jan. 1 to May 1. The committee is composed of Frank Kellog, chairman; J. L. Van der Veer, Charles Rinehart, Mrs. Fay Kern Schulz, Miss Olive Potter, Mrs. Mary P. Foreman and Miss Madge Sproull. It is proposed to utilize the fund to provide employment rather than charity and the committee will co-operate with the City Welfare department. The committee will report on receipts and expenditures each month. On tomorrow there will be an informal opening of the building and the public is invited to attend. During the evening there will be a program but the affair will take more the form of an informal inspection of the building. The building is the result of years of capable planning and financing by the club members. It is a building that not only the club members but the entire community should be proud of. It was erected so far as possible with local labor, thus giving employment to local people and to place into circulation money that was raised locally. It is an example of community cooperation that any community might well follow. It was a happy group of club members who gathered to hold their first meeting in the new building, for it has been a long and wearisome battle to finance and plan such a structure with so small a membership.
