A lovely luncheon bridge party given this afternoon by Miss Geraldine Dolan was the occasion for announcing the nuptials of her sister, Miss Isabelle Dolan, to Amos Travis. The announcement was made on the tally cards, upon which appeared the pictures of the bride and bridegroom-elect, impressed upon hearts. The date of the wedding was not made known, but it will be in the near future. Miss Dolan is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Dolan. Mr. Travis is the son of Mrs. Zoralda Travis. He was graduated from the Fullerton High school and from the University of California at Berkeley, where he was a member of the Thota Delta Chi. Those attending the party were: The Misses Ruby Cassou, Erna Steadman, Frances Backs, Kate Travis, Dorothy Yungbluth, Bernice Strodthoff, Nell Robertson, Mario Robertson, Beryl Kennedy, Betty Donnelly, Rose Donnelly, Geraldine Kraemer and Meedames Alice Rhodes Elizabeth Cunningham, Beth Singleton, Mae LeVecke, Marion Harlow, Genevieve Kuhel. Relatives of the bride-elect present were Mrs. Marie White, an aunt, and Mrs. Frances Flynn, cousin of Miss Dolan. Miss Elizabeth Bliss Weds Glenn Boyes Miss Elizabeth Bliss and Glenn Boyles, both of Anaheim, were married on Thanksgiving evening at the Wee Kirk of the Heather, Glendale, the service being read by the Rev. Charles F. Kent of the South Pasadena Methodist church. The ceremony was witnessed by Ebell Women Make 42 Pillow Tops There were 120 present at the charity luncheon and bridge party given by the Ebell club Monday afternoon, a feature of which was the making of gay cuscuions for disabled war veterans who are in the San Fernando hospital. The hostesses were Mrs. William LeVeeck and Mrs. J. W. Truxaw. Forty-two pillow tops were made during the afternoon. There were 26 tables of bridge players, the awards going to Mrs. Leonard Evans, who won a chicken; a fruit cake was awarded Mrs. Lester Randall and Mrs. Perry Smith, and a jar of stuffed fruit was presented to Mrs. J. E. Baker. Prizes for sewing went to Mrs. Henry Wagner, who received a fruit cake at Mrs. H. E. W. Barnes was presented with a jar of marmalade. The musical program during the luncheon was by Margaret J. Buttrec "Worlds of Fun" Playing in Snow Joys of tobogganing in the snow-clad mountains back of San Bernardino were told friends this week by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hennig, Mr. and Mrs. M. Batterman, Mr. and Mrs. Don Wasser and Phil Waite, following on their return Sunday evening from a week-end stay at Lake Arrowhead. "The snow was about two feet deep, and furnished excellent toboganning." Mr. Hennig stated. "We saw a number of cars stuck because they had failed to take chains, and one car lost its chains in the snow. Of course, the mountains were cold, but the party had worlds of fun." E., Miss Elizabeth Bliss Weds Glenn Boyes Miss Elizabeth Bliss and Glenn Boyles, both of Anaheim, were married on Thanksgiving evening at the Wee Kirk o' the Heather, Glendale, the service being read by the Rev. Miss Margaret Boyles, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid, Jonn Kramer was flower girl, Frank Smith was best man and John Boyles was usher. The newly-weds went on a motor trip north and will make their home in Anaheim. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. C. S. Bliss and the bridegroom is with the California Fruit Growers' Exchange. Miss Mamie Evans Weds J. W. Clemmer The wedding of Miss Mamie Evans of Fullerton and James W. Clemmer of Andhelm was held Sunday evening, the service being conducted by the Rev. A. B. Markle at his residence. Mrs. D. D. Clemmer and Miss Myrtle M. Clemmer, mother and sister of the bridegroom, were the only witnesses to the ceremony in which the double ring service was followed. The newly-weds are now on a trip and upon their return will make their home at 127 Cherry street. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Evans of Bellflower. Mr. Clemmer has lived in Anaheim since he was three years old, attended the public schools here, and for several years has been with the Union Water Co. Carnival and Bazaar by Magnolia P.-T. The Magnolia Parent Teachers' association will hold its annual carnival and bazaar at the school auditorium this Friday evening. One of the entertainment features will be a Tom Thumb wedding. There will be a number of booths where various Christmas articles and cooked food will be sold, and Dan Marachall will dispense hot doughnuts throughout the evening. FRIDAY CLUB'S CHRISTMAS The Friday club, of which Mrs. Nell E. Terry is president, held its meeting last week at the Odd Fellows' hall, when stockings were made and filled with goodies for the children at the Lots Rebekah and Odd Fellow's Christmas party. During the program Mrs. Mildred Allen reviewed the history of Yosemite Valley and Mrs. Mabel Ives gave a history of Mt. Lowe. The club will not meet again until the last Friday in January. TENTH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Shgode, who were married ten years ago, celebrated this event over the week-end, when they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Schumacher at Ventura, former residents of Anaheim-A turkey dinner was served Saturday night, and a theatre party and a midnight supper followed. A number of guests were present. Mr. Schumacher was "best man" at the Shrode wedding. TURKEYS FOR PRIZES The Ladies of the Elks will give a public bridge and 500 party at the club-house on Friday, December 11, when turkeys will be given as prizes. The chairmen are: Mrs. M. Stamps, bridge; Miss Dorothy Mang, 500; Mrs. Minnie Baxter, prizes; Mrs. W. B. Ford, refreshments. MR. AND MRS. HEIN'S DINNER One of the most sumptuous Thanks-giving dinners was that of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Hein, given to 34 relatives. The dinner was served on a long table, adorned with elaborate baskets of chrysanthemums. A program of music was given during the afternoon. Morrow, district commercial manager for the Southern California Telephone Co. The new volume has a neat brown cover and lists nearly 18,000 telephones. Miss Gisella Massera in a native Indian costume of Guatemala illustrates how Orange county's new directory compares with the book for Guatemala City. The Orange county book for December is under her arm. Guatemala City has 4.3 phones per 100 people, while Orange county has 15 per 100. Personal News Women's Relief Corps Re-elects Officers The A. B. Paul chapter of the Woman's Relief Corps, at its election Tuesday afternoon, re-elected Mrs. Bessie Fitzpatrick as president. The other officers re-elected were: Vice-presidents, Mrs. Maude English and Mrs. Addie McMillan; treasurer, Mrs. Alma Pressel; chaplain, Mrs. Hazel Davis; conductor, Mrs. Ida Lake; guard Mrs. Nora Dodge. The delegates to the department convention to be held next May are Mrs. Mary Mitchell, Mrs. Frances Morrey and Mrs. Antonia Mohleun. Miss Virginia Petty, charter member of the corps at Lawrence, Kansas, now a member of the local chapter, received a pin for her services for 40 years. The corps voted to send $5 to Christmas fund of the Soldiers Home at Sawtelle. Christmas at Central School The Central School Parent-Teachers gave a Christmas party Tuesday afternoon, when a tree was set up in the assembly room, and the blackboards were decorated by pupils of the sixth grade, showing the shepherds and the Eastern Star. Red tapers were also used for decorations. C. C. Root spoke on "Ethical Character," Jessie Thatcher, Dorothy Welt and Mavis Fleischback formed a trio which sang Christmas songs, Miss Dorothy Harvey's class sang "The Jam Pot" and the Glee club gave several numbers. Edward Osher also sang two songs. Mrs. Walter Ross was program chairman. Surprise for Dr. Long When Dr. E. E. Long went to the school, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Lamblin gave a Thanksgiving dinner for friends and relatives at their home on North Lemon street. The dinner table was ornamented with chrysanthemums. During the afternoon there were games of cribbage, 500 and pinochle. Mr. and Mrs. John Saenger had as Thanksgiving dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Bruce and Mrs. Fannie Bruce of Anaheim, and Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Bruce of Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Campbell were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl C. Bagley of Los Angeles on Thanksgiving day and also attended the U. of C.-Florida football game. R. L. Coons and daughter Miss Jessie were guests at a dinner given for retired postal clerks in Los Angeles, given by the U. S. Railway Mall association. Siemann were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Morris of Downey, Mrs. H. G. Siemann of Westport, S.D., and Mrs. Louise Backs of Anaheim. Mr. and Mrs. Henson Faris, and daughter Mamie Ruth, formerly of Anaheim, came from their home in Inglewood to spend Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schneider. Mrs. Rose Parlan and her grandson, Glenn Edward Walthall, were this week guests of Mrs. Parlan's daughter at Recent guests of Mrs. Emma Grimshaw were Mrs. Adeline Cahen and Miss Sarah Wright of Los Angeles, and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Women of the Moose gave a card party at the home of Mrs. Hilma Curran Monday evening which was attended by 35 guests. A beautiful quilt made by the women was awarded Mrs. Ella Charles, and prizes for 500 went to Mrs. B. Stoffel, Mrs. Augusta Hushman, U.S.Bauer and C.J.Van Horn. A birthday party for eighteen friends was given for Miss Mildred Rogers Monday evening when she received numerous gifts. The bridge prizes were awarded Anita Lee Androus and Howard West. LONG When Dr. E. E. Long went to the Buttree music studio Saturday evening to hear a program of music, he found that the occasion was a surprise planned by his daughter Miss Virginia for his birthday. The music program was given by a string trio composed of Edward G. Bayne of Los Angeles, Maurice Karp and Miss Long, and songs were given by Mrs. Walter Ross. Following the bridge game, the prizes went to Mrs. Walter Tripp, Mrs. Walter Ross, Mrs. W. R. Thompson, Charles Boardman, Walter Tripp and W. R. Thompson. WOODMEN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY The Woodmen of the World expect to hold their Christmas party in Anaheim on December 23, including a pot luck dinner, Christmas tree, gifts and candy for the children. At the recent election all the officers were re-elected but one, Jesse H. Rice being the new banker. The officers will be installed at the Fullerton Odd Fellows' hall on the second Wednesday in January. FOR CRIPPLED CHILDREN The Crippled Children's Relief association, the Anaheim Elks and the Orange County school of Fine Arts will join in providing a Christmas celebration for the crippled children of Orange county at the local Elks' clubhouse on the afternoon of Dec. 22. The Elks will provide its large tree, toys will be distributed, the Lions club will give the refreshments and the School of Fine Arts will give the entertainment.
