Southern Co. Meats Now U. S. Inspected
Benching the goal toward which it has striven for years, the Southern Meat Co. of Anaheim announces that it has almost Friday been operating under the supervision of the Federal Government and that Federal inspectors are now at work in its plant. The company is now, therefore, in position to engage in not only California and interstate, but in world-wide distribution of its products.
"We feel that we cannot over-emphasize the importance of this announcement to the meat-eating public of this community," said Manager C. S. Chapman. "Contrary to the belief of a large number of people, all meat is not Federal inspected. The U. S. Department of Agriculture will not install its inspection except in plants which comply with its rigid requirements, and this means that the plants must be constructed to the highest sanitary standards.
"To obtain Federal inspection we have spent nearly two years and many thousand dollars in structural changes, each of which first had to be submitted to the Bureau in Washington, D.C.
"With due appreciation of Orange county meat inspection, which is so efficiently directed by Dr. J. H. Bowers, and without criticism of any other inspections, Federal inspection stands as the last word in inspection.
"The inspector in charge of our plant, Dr. R. N. Ashley, and his assistant, Mr. Marston, lay inspector of many years experience, have passed rigid government examinations before their appointment. Dr. Ashley is a graduate veterinarian. His qualification and training, as well as those of his assistant, guarantees to purchasers of meat foods produced under their supervision as wholesome and clean in preparation.
"Every piece of meat leaving our Anaheim plant bears its inspection number, 835."

Christian Science Lesson-Sermon
Paul's words to the Galatians, "If a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself," constitute the Golden Text in the Lesson-Sermon on "Adam and Fallen Man." Sunday, in all Christian Science Churches, branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Mass.
Scripture selections in the Lesson-Sermon present the queries and assurances of Isaiah, "Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? ... Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily; and they righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward"; and the command of Christ Jesus, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
A correlative passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy, states, "When man is spoken of as made in God's image, it is not sinful and sickly mortal man who is referred to, but the ideal man, reflecting God's likeness."
Residents of Anaheim and vicinity will have an opportunity to hear a radio lecture on Christian Science, which John Ellis Sedman, C.S., of Cambridge, Mass., will broadcast from First Church of Christ, Scientist, Long Beach. He will speak at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, over KFOX.
Last year great areas of the country suffered with the drought and now the rivers are threatening to break their banks and do a lot of damage. Sometimes we are inclined to believe that the weather man has it in for the administration.

Have you made a Will? If not, may we suggest that this obligation to your family is too vital to neglect?
The first step is to consult your attorney.
If, however, you have made a Will, review it with your attorney at least once a year, to be certain that it fits your present circumstances.
In making your Will, it is just as prudent to have the guidance of a lawyer as in any other transaction where legal knowledge is required. The Trust Department of this Bank strongly recommends the use of competent legal counsel, retained by you and responsible to you.
You and your attorney are invited to discuss, without obligation, the appointment of Bank of America as Executor and Trustee under your Will.
