Gorgeous Displays Will Feature 21st National Orange Exposition In a Persian Palace is the decorative theme for the Twenty-first National Orange Show which will be held in San Bernardino February 19 to March 1. A preview has just been held for the benefit of exhibitors and the comment followed that it is the crowning achievement of the builders of the great annual classic in honor of King Orange. More exhibits, more features, more displays, more departments and more improvements will mark the 1931 edition of the gorgeously beautiful exposition. Lucile Schofield, San Bernardino girl is seen selecting fruit for a special display. Incidentally the National Orange Show is the next major event in California's Fiesta year. Realtors Advised On Sale Methods National Association Representatives Spread Gospel of Eliminating Exaggeration Three Anaheim realtors, Mrs. A. E. Pellegrin, W. J. Elliott and Ernest Zitzman, this week retold to other real estate brokers and salesmen the message they had received at the joint meeting of real estate boards of Orange county in Santa Ana last Friday, when representatives of the National Association of Real Estate boards were featured speakers. Methods of selling, of course, occupied a great deal of the realtors' time. The speakers, Guy W. Ellis, director of sales conferences for the national board, and Gerald J. Healey, president of the Healy and Carey Realty company of Flint, Michigan, stressed the necessity of great care in eliminating misrepresentation of property, or exaggeration of it. Property Brief "Real estate brokers throughout the nation," Elliott said, "are making a vigorous effort to list the property best suited to the buyers' needs and desires. Extensive surveys of property in the community are being made so the realtor will know exactly what the market offers." Gerald Healy's morning speech was marked by his assertion that "an endeavor is being made by all real estate men in the association to prepare detailed written and photographic data on all property listed for sale or exchange." This method he explained as "The property brief." Realty boards represented at the gathering included: Anaheim, Fullerton, Orange, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, and several groups from Los Angeles county. Tourist Crop In '31 To Be Heavy Girls Club Specialist Visits Orange County Miss Maybell Eager, home demonstration agent at large will be in Orange county this week to assist groups of girls and their leaders to form 4-H clubs similar to those in Riverside and other adjacent counties in Southern California. Miss Eager will make her headquarters at the farm advisor's office in Santa Ana during her stay in Orange county, January 27 to 29. A German invented a folding house which can be carried on automobile trips. That seems to settle the housing problem in this country. CHEVROLET Announces th Tourist Crop In '31 To Be Heavy State Chambers and Newspapers Coordinate Activities to Draw Visitors Motor tourists from out of state last year were an important factor in sustaining the business and employment situation, it is indicated in figures of the year's travel compiled from reports of the State Department of Agriculture. These show an increase of nearly 6,000 out-of-state cars entering this section over the eastern border routes. The gain over the previous year in this class of travel is nearly five per cent. While this increase in motor tourists is gratifying, it is expected that all previous records will be broken during 1931 through the development of the California Flesta Year plan. This is being carried out under the auspices of the California State Chamber of Commerce and the California Newspaper Publishers Association. Briefly, it coordinates and amplifies the various civic celebrations, pageants, expositions, and other tourist attractions throughout the state so that visitors in California during 1931 will have a selection of 365 entertainments of various sorts in 169 communities of the state. Previously there were only some 40 communities holding celebrations, and these were less than 200 in number. The naval building program for the next year has the cordial endorsement of President Hoover and, of course, he will be criticised by those peace societies who believe that the best way to prevent war is for America to disarm. Observance of Law Would Save Lives Many lives snuffed out in railroad crossing accidents would be saved if motorists obeyed the state law requiring them to stop their cars when signalled to do so according to a recent appeal of the state railroad commission. Whenever a mechanical signal or human flagman gives warning of the immediate approach of a railway train or car Section 114 of the state motor vehicle act declares it unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to fail to bring it to a complete stop within 50 feet but not less than 10 feet of the nearest railway tracks before traversing such grade crossing points out the auto club Traffic officers of the state as well as the police of many cities are vigorously enforcing this provision of the law at the present time as a result of the great number of fatal accidents which have occurred due to its violation.
