Watch Your Speed,
Motorists are Warned
Responsibility for the prevention of accidents during the Christmas holiday season lies primarily with the motorist, it is pointed out by the Automobile Club of Southern California. It is the auto-ist's duty to cut down his speed in crowded shopping districts.
Persons absorbed in the business of purchasing holiday gifts are likely to become careless and step in front of moving vehicles, is the reminder. Motorists are urged to look out particularly for old men and women burdened with bundles who become confused easily in traffic, and for women trying to lead children and shop at the same time. Approximately 600 persons have been killed and more than 6,000 injured in motor accidents involving pedestrians in California during the first ten months of this year.
BIG POWER PLANT
IN ORANGE COUNTY
(Continued from Page 1)
each will weigh 288,000 pounds, containing 16,133 gallons of oil. Each transformer will be thirty-seven feet high over all and more than twenty-one feet in diameter. There will be twenty-four oil switches, weighing $76,000 pounds. Each will contain 3,400 gallons of oil. Approximately 11,792 feet of copper tubing will be used.
The announcement of plans for the Stanton substation, as the greatest single Orange county project to be undertaken by the Southern California Edison Company, closely follows the announcement that the company will spend approximately $1,256,000 in Orange county during 1931. Nearly
$850,000 of this will be used for construction to reinforce an dextend the distribution facilities, caring for the greater use of electricity by present consumers and preparing to serve many new consumers whose homes, farms and industries will be added to the lines. More than $410,000 of the Orange county appropriation this year, from the company's general construction budget of $28,000,000, will be distributed throughout the year in salaries to Edison company Orange county employees.
The Orange county territory includes the Fullerton, Hunting Beach and Santa Ana districts of the Edison Company.

A CHRISTMAS SENTIMENT
Christmas should be a holy day, not merely a holiday. We should pause in common pursuits to freshen our gratitude for the birth of Jesus and for his life-work. More than this, we should enlarge our preparation to follow in the way he showed. In particular, each of us should newly dedicate himself to the idea of Christian service expressed in Jesus' words: 'I am among you as he that serveth' (Luke 22:27).
"The Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, spoke of Christmas as follows: "Today the Christ is, more than ever before, "the way, the truth, and the life,"—"which lighteth every man that cometh"
