Old Mission Meats Get Impetus as C.S. Chapman Steers Win Four First Places in Four Marigold Farm Wins Praise from Livestock Men of California Producing four first places in as many shows in the last four months, Marigold Farm at Redlands, property of C.S. Chapman of Fullerton, today stands foremost among the cattle-feeding establishments on the Pacific coast. From the cattle scientifically fed on this ranch, the Southern Meat company selects the stock which it markets under the Old Mission brand. Source of Satisfaction: Most recent acquisition of the steers representing the run-of-herd stock at the Marigold farm was first place for Pacific coast entries in the Los Angeles Livestock show completed several weeks ago; and third prize in individual open class steers. All prize winners during the holidays are furnishing Old Mission meat for tasty dinners served in Orange county during the holidays. “This is the first year that we have entered’ stock in various county fairs,” Manager Chapman of the Southern Meat company of Analieim stated. “We picked these steers from our regular herd, fed them no differently than we are feeding the balance of the stock, but we did pen them up to tame them, and to accustom them to the presence of people.” “The fact that our two entries won first and second places in the Orange county fair, Los Angeles county fair, Riverside county fair, and that our entry in the Los Angeles Livestock show won first place for those of the Pacific coast, as well as in competition from all over the United States one of our steers won third in the individual open class, of course, is a great source of satisfaction and has brought us considerable praise from cattle men and meatmen throughout Southern California. But the greatest satisfaction of all is that our blue ribbon winners have taught the meat-buying public of Southern California that Old Mission brand products, produced right here in Anaheim, are obtained anywhere.” “It is our ambition the very best quality we know thecess can be obtainfor us to remembering to our friendsness, throughoutO couldn't do otherwisethe best meats that” “We have 2,000 steers on our cattle lands, the nucleus secure our Old Mission Beef year. These are steers and will be ration as the prizerson. We buy only the ranges of Arizona and feed them at this 'reservoir' we position of being traded a constant of highest quality.” Most recent acquisition of the steers representing the run-of-herd stock at the Marigold farm was first place for Pacific coast entries in the Los Angeles Livestock show, completed several weeks ago; and third prize in individual open class steers. President Glenn Frank of the University of Wisconsin says that students of his institution have the same right to join the communists as the Presbyterians. But it is to be hoped that no student will try out the eminent educator's sincerity by organizing a society to overthrow the University of Wisconsin and its president by violence no matter what he calls the organization, however admissable it may be to join a "party" proposing that treatment for the government of the United States. Carter Glass accuses the Democratic leaders of having an inferiority complex. Nobody would ever have a hardihood of accusing Carter of that shortcoming. Well in some instances the defeated candidate has it on the fellow who wins the office. He doesn't have to make good on his campaign promises. NORTHERN ORANGE COUNTY CREDIT ASSN. W. L.
