“Lower prices--bigger values for you in men’s clothes
You’ve heard of pinching a dollar until the eagle screamed. This year at this store we’re making the eagle scream—but it’s a scream of delight. We’re making the dollar buy so much more that the eagle is gaining back his self respect.
Hart Schaffner & Marx with their vast resources have taken every advantage of the downward trend material prices to lower costs and put more value in clothes. They’ve developed better production methods—they’ve given you big savings and we ourselves have lowered overhead and labor costs.”
Hart Schaffner & Marx with their vast resources have taken every advantage of the downward trend in material prices to lower costs and put more value into clothes. They've developed better production methods—they've given you big savings and we ourselves have lowered overhead and selling costs to add to the value.
FOR EXAMPLE: Hart Schaffner & Marx have created a new suit value at $27.50, with 2 trousers $30. They've put more tailoring, richer lining, new refinements into Gordian Worsteds.
All through the line you find these evidences of more for your dollar. Buy your clothes now and save

"Billy The Kid" At Fox Anaheim Theatre
Nancy Carroll's picture, "Laughter," closes at the Fox Anaheim Theatre today.
Opening tomorrow is the new King Vidor production "Billy The Kid," with Wallace Berry, John Mack Brown, Kay Johnson and Karl Dane. The central character, "Billy The Kid" is said to be a true life western bad man of years ago, and the picture an actual portrayal of his activities. It is an outdoor action drama, replete with thrills and romance.
On Sunday the Fox Anaheim will present Robert Montgomery, Lella Hyams, Mary Doran, Louis Mann and Francis X. Bushman, Jr., in "Sins Of The Children." Elliott and J. C. Nugent wrote the story and it reveals the well known family life of an average American group. The Fox Anaheim management asserts that "Sins Of The Children" is an unusually good picture. It ran five weeks at the Tower Theatre, Los Angeles on it's premier engagement.
Charles Farrell is booked to play the Fox Anaheim next Monday and Tuesday in Fox's all talking version of the noted Franz Molnar play, "Lilliam." H. B. Warner, Rose Hobart, Estelle Taylor and Lee Tracy are seen in the supporting cast of "Lilliam."
The well remembered gold digger of Broadway, Winnie Lightner, comes to the Fox Anaheim Wednesday and Thursday, November 19th and 20th in her new comedy "The Life Of The Party."

Parents Give Views On Public School
The returns from fifty thousand potential card inquiries asking what are the three outstanding public school problems of California are announced by Governor Young's Lay Commission on Educational Problems which has just closed its fourteenth three-day conference at the San Francisco State Bulldog.
The commission expressed itself as well satisfied with the results of the inquiry, which was addressed to 10,000 citizens chosen at random from the voters' lists of the fifty-eight counties of 6,500 city, county and state officials, the forma chambers of commerce, 28,000 presidents and secretaries of all Call members of state and city organizations of both men and women and 5,000 school teachers and school officials.
In order to assure significant replies no list of problems was furnished by the commission; each person being asked to write in his own words on a blank reply card the three public school problems which he considered to be the most important.
Over one-half of the replies received made suggestions relating to school.

teachers; some asking for more well trained teachers, some wanting more demanded more men teachers,
teachers naturally qualified to teach, others urging changes in the teacher tenure and retirement laws. One group
Over one-third of the citizens who required made suggestions relating to teaching: for more instruction in the "three R's", for teaching students "how to think" or "how to study." Included in this group were those who thought that more training should be given in certain subjects, such as English and spelling. Considerable criticism came from all corners of the state as to the teaching of too many "fancy" subjects.
Nearly one-third of the replies also stressed in one way o ranother a desire that the schools give more ethical training, develop "social mindedness," develop character, give sex instruction, or teach respect for authority.
Another large group of respondents urged that more individual training be given both to the very bright and the very dull students, instead of throwing them all together under "mass" instruction. Another group were concerned over the costs of the schools, school buildings, etc. The need for vocational guidance in order to prevent the placing of square pegs in round holes was also frequently mentioned. A number of citizens thought that athletics are taking up too much school time.
