Armstrong, assistant general manager. Loose oranges and grapefruit of Exchange associations now has the same sales facilities that have worked so successfully for Exchange loose lemons during the past two years. Under the present plan, Exxchange packing houses continue to supply loose fruit to accredited dealers in their own immediate districts. Prices are determined by the central office of the Exchange in Los Angeles. This plan promises to eliminate much of the selling among associations. Uniform prices, as far as possible, will be quoted throughout the associations. Metropolitan Los Angeles will be furnished with loose fruit by the Citrus Distributing Plant established on May 1. The better oranges, lemons and grapefruit of the unpacked grades will be sold through this central plant, while inferior fruit will continue to be sent to the Exchange products companies at Ontario and Corona. W. W. Canaday, former manager of the lemon distributing plant, has been appointed manager of distribution of all loose citrus fruit in Los Angeles markets. Frank Williams and Bruce Moore are assistant managers. "Excellent support has been shown by Margaret E. Hesslink, hygiene, nurse; Linda V. Higgins, physical education; Lova Holt, biology, botany; Bernice A. Kelley, typewriting, shorthand; L. Frank Kellogg, mathematics, physics, physical education; John B. Kennedy, public speaking, debate; Edward F. Kroutil, commercial; Helen G. Lane, arts and crafts; Andrew F. LeTourneau, machine, auto shop; Mirian McAllister, Spanish, French; Myrtle H. Smith, library; Minnie R. Spicer, geometry, general science; Madge W. Sproull, Spanish, German; Jacob L. Van der Veer, wood shop; Bella J. Walker, vice-principal and English, and Joshua Williams, music. Auto, Train Crash; Driver Not Injured William Gilbert of Campbell, California, Wednesday morning escaped unhurt in a near-tragedy at Northam crossing on the north side of Buena Park when Santa Fe passenger train furnished with loose fruit by the Citrus Distributing Plant established on May 1. The better oranges, lemons and grape-fruit of the unpacked grades will be sold through this central plant, while inferior fruit will continue to be sent to the Exchange products companies at Ontario and Corona. W. W. Canaday, former manager of the lemon distributing plant, has been appointed manager of distribution of all loose citrus fruit in Los Angeles markets. Frank Williams and Bruce Moore are assistant managers. "Excellent support has been shown by so buyers since the opening of the Citrus Distributing plant," stated Mr. Armstrong, "and thought the volume of the fruit is not large. It is evident that during a full crop year this should prove a valuable addition to Exchange marketing service. This distributing plan for Exchange loose fruit which will bring selling under one head and management, will further consolidate Exchange marketing in California. It is believed that this policy will make a better market for Exchange fruit, and that, at the same time, greater uniformity of supply and prices, as well as a better class of fruit, will be furnished the consumer," said the Exchange official. Anaheim American Legion men Wednesday evening of this week invaded Seal Beach half a hundred strong to assist in bestowing on the "baby" post of the county its birthday charter. State Commander Clarence L. Kincald officiated. Initiation ceremonies were in charge of Orange County Volunteer 527, 40 et 8, with Ray E. Smith of Anaheim post as chef de gare.
