36 Painters Enjoy Big Dinner-Meeting
Painters of Annheim and vicinity this week recalled with pleasure the banquet tendered them at the Elks club last Friday evening by the National Lead company of California, according to report received from Ernest Dubois, resident manager of the Bass-Hueter Paint Company and a guest at the banquet.
Horace Pickett, National Lead representative for Southern California, opened the meeting and introduced Dave Schindler, another firm executive who stressed the value of selling paint jobs and illustrated his talk with the film "Three Painters." Henry Valk then told of the correct methods of estimating paint costs and jobs, and Pickett followed with an explanation of paint and paint pigment mixing, recommending three coats of paint for new wood and two for repaint work.
Mr. Dubois and his aide, F. F. Bennett, reported that 36 painters attended the dinner-meeting.

Lure of Mines Claims Henrys
Father and Two Sons Leave Tuesday to Work 72 per cent Copper Stringer
Lure of copper, gold and silver found by assayists in samples brought from their six claims in Arizona, five miles from the Mexican border, next week draws Arch Henry, Sr., and his two sons, George Alex Henry and Marion Henry, who plan to leave Tuesday for a stay of a month to develop if stringer which so far has shown 72 per cent copper, the richest discovered in that territory.
The claims are held by Mr. and Mrs. Arch Henry Sr., and the four sons, who own the Henry Brothers drug store on East Center street. Each year the father and sons defy customary spring fever and trek to the stillness of the desert where they do enough mining to retain legal hold on their mining claims.
George Henry best explains the proposition:
"Five years ago my father and us boys went back to look over the territory which my father found 15 or 20 years ago an determine whether or not it would be profitable to stake claims for minerals. After having the ore assayed, the general test of which ran 45 per cent copper, we staked out a claim for every member of the family and since then have worked them each year. We plan to keep up our work on the claims and discover, if possible this trip, just how much ore we might expect. There is a strata near the surface which looks like pure copper and assayed 72 per cent. Just how extensive this layer is we plan to find out within the fortnight. Our claims are about 60 miles southeast of Yuma, near the Mexican border."
