A quantity of women's clothing was stolen from the residence of S. Shaffer, on Anaheim road, west of Olive, near the Santa Ana river, sometime between 3 and 6 p.m. Sunday, according to report made to the Orange police, who informed the office of Sheriff Jerrigan. The back door of the Shaffer home had been left unlocked, it was reported.
Paul H. Demaree, teacher in the Anaheim Union high school, was elected president of the Y. M. C. A. Club at the regular semi-monthly meeting of that organization last week. Demaree succeeds Evan S. Alsip, who has served as president since the organization of the club, slightly more than a year ago. Other officers named were Marion Falconer, first vice-president; James W. Means, second vice-president; Loban S. Frost, secretary, and Floyd-R. Puryear, treasurer.
Mayor Leonard and City Manager Price represented Angheim at the Colorado river talkfest held at Santa Ana Saturday.
Three workers have secured 72 names on the petition being circulated for the calling of an incorporation election at Placentia, according to Tom Pickerill, secretary of the chamber of commerce. The petition will be filed with the county board of supervisors following the publishing of the election notice. It is expected that the petition will be presented to the board October 26, according to Pickerill. But 50 names were required. If the board approves the calling of the election and if the community votes for incorporation, all details in the process of incorporation should be completed by January 1, 1927, stated Pickerill. Following the completion of these details, a municipal electin will have to be held to choose five trustees, a city clerk and a treasurer. Other municipal officers will be appointed.
Anaheim is collecting funds to relieve stricken Florida. Dr. J. G. Hillary, president of the local Red Cross chapter, has charge of the work, and will receive subscriptions at the First National Bank.

West Brothers Will Occupy New Rooms
Have Leased Larger Quarters in Pickwick Stage Building
Tire stocks in the hands of retailers still are considered low, especially in view of the impending and inevitable spurt in sales that will come with improvements in the weather. Rain means skidding with smooth tires.
There are today more than 20,000,000 motor vehicles in the United States, and they are covering hundreds of millions of miles daily. That means there are more than 100,000,000 tires on the roads, and that sooner or later—perhaps sooner than may be anticipated—a lot of these tires will have to be replaced.
Tire dealers last year sold approximately 33,000,000 casings. Their sales for 1926 should not fall below 36,000,000 casings, despite the increasing repair and retreading of tires, especially on the Pacific coast.
The fact that tire sales have been slow for the past few months, indicates that the sales spurt, when it does come, will be of astounding proportions, and have been living in Ventura for some months past, have returned to Los Alamitos, and purchased the Hilbard property. Mrs. Sjostrom is driving the tractor for the real estate firm.
The Willing Workers met at the home of Mrs. George Martin, on Chestnut street, Tuesday afternoon, with Mrs. Ellis Reed as assisting hostess. There was an attendance of fifteen, and after the business session, refreshments were served and a social hour enjoyed.
Mrs. E. L. Johns was in Fullerton on Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. George Martin and Mrs. Cerella Henderson, accompanied by their guest, Mrs. Robert Criswolf of Traer, Iowa, drove to Ontario and Riverside on Thursday, and then to their ranch in northern San Diego county, returning on Friday. They called at the new home of E. W. Walton near there may be a lot of dealers who will lose out on sales through inadequacy of their stocks.
In view of needed extra production to meet the demand to come, The India Tire and Rubber Company of Akron, Ohio, has just completed and put into operation a new addition to their plant at a cost of approximately $200,000. It is 80x80 feet, consisting of 19,200 square feet of floor space, and is two stories high, with a full basement. It permits of more capacity in every department, particularly those for bus and truck tires.
The present capacity of the plant is 2000 casings and 2400 tubes a day, but space is provided for additional increases in production before it will be necessary to enlarge the factory again.
West Brothers, local representative for India tires in Orange county, also feel the need for more room in order to carry a complete stock to meet their increasing demand for India tires. They will occupy new quarters in the Pickwick Stage building, on the corner of Los Angeles at Chestnut, as soon as the building, now under construction, is completed. This will enable them to keep a complete stock of all sizes of tires and tubes at all times.
