FREE TRACTOR DEMONSTRATION
Have you seen the free tractor field demonstrations being given here by the Standard Gas Engine company of Oakland? The public is invited. But the event is of special interest to Fordson tractor owners and all students of power farming.
The Hamilton transmission for the Fordson tractor is said to have created a sensation wherever shown. That such a simple device could actually add 50 per cent more power to the Fordson tractor is regarded as little short of unbelievable until it is seen in action, according to the manufacturers.
The demonstrations held this week have been pronounced very-successful. Not only the transmission, but also the Hamilton grouser, and drawbar are being shown on Placement Avenue, one mile north of the county hospital, Saturday, February 20, at 10 a.m., under the auspices of Sid McGraw, local Ford dealer.
It is pointed out that this transmission should not be confused with ordinary "accessories" or "attachments." It becomes an integral part of the tractor, functioning in perfect harmony with other parts. It is said to be oil-tight and dustproof, with no exposed moving parts, and manufactured of finest materials to highest engineering standards.
With Hamilton equipment, the manufacturers claim, the drawbar pull of the Fordson is increased 50 per cent, enabling it to pull three 12-inch plows as readily as the standard Fordson pulls two. And it is asserted this result is accomplished without any appreciable change in plowing speed and with no added strain on any Fordson part.
It is further claimed that the equipment tends to stabilize the tractor, decreases sidesway- and facilitates steering. A special system of gear reduction is used. The Hamilton transmission case displaces the after-housing of the tractor, lengthening the wheelbase 13½ inches. Otherwise, the appearance of the Fordson is not altered and the tractor is operated exactly the same as before.

BILL SACKETT OBJECTS
J. W. Sackett makes vigorous objection to the statement that Anaheim is only 56 years of age. He knows perfectly well that Anaheim was founded in 1857 and is now 69 years old. He was born in that year; he knows how old he is, and he knows also how old the city is. Bill is one of the most influential citizens of Anaheim and anything he says goes. He says he is 69 year old and he ought to know, and everybody else knows that Anaheim is of the same age. In fact, Bill and the town are twins.

Cypress Notes
(By W. C. MILLER)
A movement is on foot which is very important to Cypress and the surrounding territory, especially that to the north. The project is to pave Walker street north to Orangethorpe avenue, which is a distance of one and one-half miles. Orangethorpe avenue is to be paved through to the county line, a distance of some three and three-quarter miles. The present plan is to throw these two districts into one.
Los Angeles county has already laid plans to pave First street of Artesia, which is Orangethorpe avenue, east to the Orange county line. Walker street will connect Lincoln avenue with Orangethorpe and will some time be continued north to Whittler. A large majority of the landowners in the proposed improvement district have signified their desire to put the project over, so it is almost a certainty that the improvements will be made.
Job Dennie, J. P. Street, W. Premus and G. G. Priddy attended the meeting of the directors of the Century boulevard at Bellflower Tuesday evening. They report that the project is coming along nicely. Several speakers from the Los Angeles chamber of commerce explained the progress of the project in Los Angeles county, also the Matoon bill, which will aid greatly in establishing new rights-of-ways.

A bronze replica of the model was bestowed upon Joseph Kraghkow, assistant foreman of the Omaha shops of the Union Pacific, for the best individual record made in contributing to the railroad's safety cause in general.
