Decrease Noted In Crossing Accidents
But Highway Accidents are Increasing, It is Reported
Discussion of possible plans for ranking the principal cities of the country as to their relative improvement in reduction of street and highway accidents, the receipt of reports showing decreases in the number of grade-crossing accidents and in the number of collisions between street cars and automobiles, marked the progress of the committee on statistics of the national conference on street and highway safety as the committee began preparation of its report to Secretary of Commerce Hoover, chairman of the conference.
The question considered by the committee regarding ranking of cities was: "Is it possible on the basis of information available or practically obtainable to work out a way by which to rank the principal cities as to their relative improvement in street and highway safety?" The discussions indicated that the members were of the opinion that such an index might be worked out. It was brought out that the many variable factors in the safety work undertaken by the cities of the country complicate the problem, but it was pointed out that such a plan showing the progress made in various phases of accident reduction would be of value to every community which is seeking to reduce traffic hazards.
The committee on statistics is working with the committee on causes of accidents in developing accident report forms which will be of assistance in the thorough investigation and analysis of accidents. The use of a uniform reporting system designed by the National Safety Council and which is in accord with the recommendations of the First Conference on Street and Highway Safety is spreading, the committee was informed. Approximately 40 cities have this system in use at present.
The committee is also considering the separation in its forthcoming report of vehicular fatalities into the following classifications: (1) steam railroads (2) electric railways, (3) automobiles,

At the hour of 10 o'clock in the forenoon of that day commence to sell the real estate upon which said taxes are a lien at PUBLIC AUCTION for and on account of such delinquent taxes thereon in my office in the City Hall in the City of Anaheim County of Orange State of California and that I will continue such sale from day to day (Sunday and legal holidays excepted), according to the adjournments and between the hours of 10 o'clock a.m. and 2 o'clock p.m. of each day of sale,and at the same place until the whole property hereinbefore set forth or so much thereof as may be necessary shall be sold; together with the sum of fifty (50) cents provided by law for the certificate of sale in duplicate in each and every case.
NO PROPERTY IS EXEMPT
No property is exempt from seizure and sale for personal property taxes; even the homestead and house utensils are subject thereto. The law is imperative. The collector has no discretion and delinquents must suffer if they fail to pay.
All the property heretofore described is in the City of Anaheim County of Orange State of California.
