Local Brevities
Burglarms made an attempt to break into Jackson's clothing store Sunday night, but were evidently frightened away by the patrolman on his nightly rounds. Evidently they departed in a hurry, as they left several burglar's tools and a pair of gloves behind them.
The case of M. L. Harbison, who is seeking damages from the city trustee for alleged injuries to his reputation, was postponed a week when it came up before Judge Marks last week. It is set for tomorrow at 2 p.m. Postponement was taken because the attorneys were not ready to proceed.
Frank Dilatour, South Placentia avenue, caterer, who has been indisposed with an attack of sickness, is again up and around, greeting his many friends with a smile, discussing the wind, the weather and the news of the day. Mr. Dilatour also keeps well posted on the political situation.
Supervisor William Sebumacher is giving his constituents many fine paved roads in his district, and many of the dirt roads are being regraded. It is current rumor that the highways in the Third district compare favorably with the best in the state.
Daniel Saucedo was picked up by Constable Marion at the Delhi sugar factory on a warrant sworn out by his wife on a non-support charge. He was given a preliminary hearing in the Justice court here and bound over to the Supreme court for trial. D. W. Wettlin represented the state and Maurice Cain appeared for the defendant.
H. Mousser of Placentia died at his home on Tuesday, the funeral being held Friday, the interment being in Loma Vista cemetery. Deceased was a member of the Moose lodge of Anaheim, under whose auspices the funeral was conducted. The Colonial Flower Shoppe of this city prepared a beautiful wreath of flowers six feet in height, of red and purple, symbolizing the local brevities.

In the great game of baseball at Washington Sunday, in which the Washington Americans defeated the Pittsburgh Nationals by a score of 4 to 0, the two leading players on the Washington team were former Orange county boys. Walter Johnson, the pitcher learned to play baseball at Olinda, Fulerton and Anaheim, and Ruel, the catcher, began his career at Orange.
Mrs. Eva Lyons Smith, wife of Maurice Smith of West Orangethorpe avenue, underwent a surgical operation at the Anaheim sanitarium, several days ago. Latest reports say Mrs. Smith is progressing as well as could be expected, although her condition has been critical.

arrested by Constable Marion last week
on a complaint of Marie Giraud of that

sufficient to convict, upon motion of
the district attorney, the case was dismissed.
Emily Haas, trained nurse, living in
Anaheim, carried into the courts her
fight to collect $6120 wages, claimed to
be due from the estate of the late
Christian Haas. The nurse declares
that she nursed Haas and his wife,
Mrs. Emma Haas, also deceased, for
approximately three years, without retreatment. Her suit was filed against
Charles C. Haas, executor of the
Christian Haas estate. Attorney Lenard Evans of Anaheim represents her.
In her complaint the plaintiff sets forth
that she nursed Mrs. Haas from April
18, 1919, to October 20, 1921, the date
of Mrs. Haas' death. Her services as
nurse to Christian Haas commenced the
day before the death of Mrs. Haas and
continued until April 8, 1922, she states.
