WHAT IT REALLY MEANS And now that we have this victory, what are we going to do with it? In language unmistakable the electorate of the United States has voiced its disapproval of the fads and fancies and fabrications of Robert M. LaFollette, Burton K. Wheeler, Samuel Gompers, William H. Johnston, Morris Hilquist, Eugene V. Debs, Kary Marx, Lenine, Trotsky, Zinovlev and the rest thereof. It has voiced its lack of confidence in a political party of dual personalities and hybrid principles, such as the Democratic party turned out to be when the Republican convention at Cleveland had insured the Republican party against that sort of blunder and the Democrats resorted to it because opposing elements in the Democratic party were hopefully irreconcilable. In language than which there can be none plainer, the majority of the voting population of the country have issued a mandate against the bloc system of legislative control and against government by congressional inquisition, against slander and villification under senatorial immunity, against congressional hamstringing of executive or judiciary in favor of ordered government under the law and the Constitution. The Republican party, victor in the fight for executive control, in a position to achieve victory in the fight for legislative dominance, can have no excuse now for a stand of tolerance either toward renegades or toward pussyfooting aspirants for leadership who seek to gain ground for themselves by attempts at conciliation toward insurgency and party disloyalty. The rank and file have shown their disapproval of that sort of thing. The electorate has demonstrated its support of upstanding, militant Republican leaders and its confidence in Reedles, arriving at that city Tuesday night. Wednesday, the inspection schedule provided for a trip along the Colorado river where a number of possible sites for the proposed Colorado river acqueduct were to be visited. Arriving at Blythe Wednesday evening, the party was scheduled to leave there Thursday morning for the return home. The route to be taken by the party during the journey from Blythe to Los Angeles was arranged so that the line of the proposed acqueduct would be followed as close as possible. Chief Engineer William Mulholland of the Los Angeles water bureau, who with his assistant engineers E. A. Bayley and Roderick Kay, are now engaged in making a study of the Colorado river in connection with the aqueduct, joined the party at Las Vegas Monday. NEW HEADLIGHT LAWS For the benefit of those motorists usherheadlights that will become illegal after December 31st Will H. With more than thirty prominent Southern California officials in attendance, the inspection party is the largest and most notable delegation that has ever been drawn together to make a close study of the Boulder Canyon dam site and the problems incidental to the construction of the proposed aqueduct to bring domestic water from the Colorado river to the towns and cities in the southern part of the state. Headed by Mayor George Oryer of Los Angeles, a great caravan of automobiles left Los Angeles Saturday morning. The Los Angeles party, which stopped along the way to pick up representatives from Pasadena, Long Beach, Orange, Santa Ana and San Bernardino, was met at Barstow Saturday evening by a second group of machines from Imperial and Coachella valleys, and a third party from River-side. From Barstow the schedule called for the assembled officials to proceed to Las Vegas, Nevada, arriving there Sunday night. Monday the party journeyed miles out of Las Vegas to visit Boulder Canyon on the Colorado, returning to Las Vegas Monday evening. Tuesday the officials were to leave Las Vegas to visit Black Canyon below Nevada City and from this point, they were to proceed on down to Mahon James E. 57 200 Meyers, J. A. 214 500 Meyers, J. SAM. L. COLLINS, Secretary of Blue Light Silver Mines Company, 242 West Central Heim, California. 10-23-3t. ANAHEIM GAZETTE tin to state traffic officers instructing them that another intensive campaign to improve headlight conditions in California will be launched on November 15th. The bulletin to the officers says the headlight conditions in the state are very bad and that the division is anxious to see a big improvement before the rainy season starts at which time many accidents are caused by glaring or improperly adjusted headlights. Squads in each county will be required to devote at least three evenings to the work until further notice. No device not included in Marsh's list will be legal after December 1. On that date some 161 devices, approved under a former state law become obsolete. Officers have been instructed to advise the motorists that December 31st will be the last day upon which they may operate such equipment. Marsh said today that two California manufacturers have circulated reports that only five devices on the market are legal. These reports, he said, are erroneous as the legal list includes about thirty. Stop lights not included in this list are illegal at this time as the law includes no saving clause for unapproved stop-lights. Motorists operating cars equipped with stop-lights not included in the list are therefore doing so in violation to the law. LONELY "Here," said Sherlock Holmes "sits the loneliest man in the world. Unmarried, unloved; no brothers or sisters, no little children to call him uncle; not even a landlady's child to smile at his return." "Wonderful," gasped Dr. Watson "how do you know all this?" "Elementary, my dear Watson," replied the great detective; "he opened a package of cigarettes and threw the picture card away." There are two things you can't buy with money but if you have money it will help you bear your disappointment over them. Nearly everybody is opposed to child labor and quite a good many to man labor.
