WILBUR COMING HOME Secretary of the Navy Curtis D. Wilbur will soon be in California, his first visit home since called to his high post at Washington. The announcement of President Coolidge that he proposes to call another world conference for further limitation of armaments, in which undertaking the distinguished Californian will necessarily have a leading part, gives added significance to the career in national affairs that has been opened to him. Although trained at Annapolis for the navy, Judge Wilbur is essentially a man of peace. Those who know him will realize with what fervor he would participate in the effort to reduce armments. When a superior Judge in Los Angeles he preferred the trying work of the Juvenile court. He developed also an interest in Sunday school. The bent of his mind is thus disclosed and it is manifest what appeal a disarmament conference will have for him. President Coolidge will have in his secretary a most able assistant in the enterprise. The mere fact that the United States government will call another conference is an encouraging augury for the future. The economic side has come to the fore, and saber rattlers have been forced into the background. The promise of drafting material resources as well as human in another conflict, as the Republican platform declared at the President's dictation, helps to give a sobering effect on the war spirit. President Coolidge moves forward in helping to solve the ills of the world with the assurance of the American people that he is "proceeding up the principle of present co-operation without further entanglements." Is regulated largely by capacity to pay for them With credit and money at hand Europe will purchase liberally what we produce. The tremendous waste in maintaining armaments has drained Europe of much of this buying resource It has curtailed in the past the market for Coolledge can succeed in inducing a general reduction of armed preparation, he not only will minimize probabilities of future wars but also will achieve a great boon for mankind In its economic warfare, in which California can realize some very important and immediate advantages. The President announced that he would call the conference as soon as the Dawes plan was accepted. It now practically been accepted and the world conference will soon be a feasible undertaking Disarmament is likely to be a step by step procedure and yet when so sensible and appealing a policy once is inaugurated and a modus perandi worked out civilization will probably not delay in reaping full measure of its benefits and blessings. President Coolridge, General Dawes and the entire administration at Washington have with a minimum fanfare stepped into the world situation in a most effective manner and are ready proceed further to clear away conditions that have been dragging civilization downward There will be no difficulty aboutthe sustaining force of public sentimentIt has become manifestto thhepublicthatthe straighteningoutofthingsinEuropeaverygoodpaying proposition.Europe financially restored andwitharmmentcostslargelyeliminatedwillgivenewlifetocproduction和consumptionandinaugurationanewprogressthatwillcomewith prosperityandflourishingtrade. President Coolidge moves forward in helping to solve the ills of the world with the assurance of the American people that he is "proceeding up the principle of present co-operation without further entanglements." His distinguished team mate, General Dawes who with his colleagues opened the way to agreement among the European nations deserves credit for having accomplished so much without involving the United States in a single objectionable responsibility. His contribution to civilization is not yet recognized. In practical words he pointed out to Europe how to help herself and place herself in a position where the economic world could and would along business lines come to her aid. Real assets are to secure obligations, purchasing power is to be restored, and industry got under full swing again. These great steps toward economic improvement and stabilization are of direct importance to California. Reopening of European markets closed since the war means renewal of consumption of our products. It has been estimated that with the Dawes plan carried out in full effect, so that Europe can pay for what she needs, there would be an immediate demand for $150,000,000 of California products, such as grain, hogs, sheep cattle and raisins and prunes. Consumption of California products of public sentiment. It has become manifest to the public that the straightening out of things in Europe is a very good paying proposition. Europe financially restored and with armament costs largely eliminated will give new life to production and consumption and inaugurate a new progress that will come with prosperity and flourishing trade. It is a matter of pride to all Californians that Judge Wilbur sits in the council where these great history making undertakings are considered. We know he is giving off his talents and his spirit in full measure to these moving developments. President Coolidge is known to lean on him for much intimate counsel. California will welcome him cordially and express through him its appreciation of the great achievements of the government at Washington toward getting the world underway again with substantial groundwork laid for further triumphe over the God Of Wars. No time in history parallels the present in import of events toward felling of destructive elements and doing great constructive things looking to the upbuilding of civilizaion. However, retribution is at hand.Economic disaster flaps its sable wings over Mr.Morgan's country Our internal markets are exhausted. The outside world can not absorb our surpluses.Absove all we are now suffering from an agrarian crisis, two million farmers throwing away their plots of ground." The communist manifesto was probably in the printer's hands weeks ago,and it would be too much to expect a busy group of men at Moscow to keep up to the minute in respect to prices for American wheat, hogs and cotton. No doubt the Moscow authors know better;but there is not always perfect harmony between what they learn知and what the Russian masses are told. Not very long ago the Russian people were invited to ponder an imminent uprising of ten million American negroes.Compared with that, the agrarian revolution and two million abandoned American farms seem quite mild.On the tenth anniversary of World War,Moscow declares-the outstanding menaceto.the peace和 happinessof mankind.tobeTheUnitedStatesengagedin imposingthe ANAHEIM GAZETTE TIME TABLE A.T.$&S.F.RR..
