Funeral services for George F. Collins of Richfield, were held Thursday at McAulay's Parlors. Mr. Collins was one of the county's most prominent citizens.
John Brawn was granted permit to build a frame residence on North Helena street to cost $3,000.
Charles Weaver of Los Angeles was bound over to the Superior Court by Judge Kuchel Saturday to stand trial on a charge of driving an auto while under the influence of liquor. His ball was fixed at $1000.

Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Scott are spending a vacation at Arrowhead Lake.
A daughter was born at the Community hospital Saturday to Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Wilson.
The residence of Captain W. O. Hart, past master at Orange, was wrecked by fire Friday night. The building was not entirely destroyed, but the furnishings were ruined.
Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Benjamin arrived in Boston Monday morning. Mr. Benjamin is a delegate from Anaheim lodge to the Elk's National convention.
A fisherman off Cape May Point, New Jersey, found a quart bottle of scotch whiskey inside a 50 pound channel bass. The fish must have been attending the Democratic convention.
At the meeting of the Republican County Central Committee Thursday E. R. Abbey was appointed to take the place of T. E. Stephenson, Santa Ana committee member who resigned when he took charge of the post office.
C. C. Chapman, one of the delegates at large to the Republican national convention, has returned home. He visited Buffalo and New York City after the convention adjourned and found sentiment overwhelmingly favorable to Coolidge and Dawes. He looks for a sweeping victory for the Republican ticket.

Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Altnow left last week on an extended visit to their old home in South Dakota.
Mrs. Manuela Budrow and Miss Mabel Woodworth of the Conservatory of Music, went up to Santa Barbara last week to attend the state convention of music teachers. Mrs. Budrow is on the program.

The avocado growers of California will hold a field day Saturday, July 26 at Hewes Park, according to announcement. All those interested in avocados are being invited to come and bring their picnic lunches. The meeting is being arranged by the California Avocado association, Los Angeles.
At the Kiwanis meeting Tuesday a resolution was adopted asking President Coolidge, if possible, to prevent the warship maneuvers contemplated for Pacific waters. The resolution, which was introduced by D. Jessurun, states that such a mobilization might be construed as a warlike demonstration and threatening to the peace of the world.
Dan O'Hanlon, prominent Fullerton business man, who recently disturbed the peace of a K. K. K. meeting at that city by denouncing the speaker as a liar, was assessed a fine of $25 by Judge Hart. He was hustled off the grounds by the police and on his arraignment plead guilty.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Carroll rave Just returned from a two weeks' trip to Yosemite and other points north. On their return they stopped at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller at Jamestown, and spent an hour with the Millers who were former friends and neighbors of the Carroll family. They found Mr. and Mrs. Miller both enjoying excellent health although Mr. Miller has passed his 90th birthday. Although they moved away from here many years ago, Joe found Mr. and Mrs. Miller well posted on Anaheim affairs, as they read the Gazette regularly.
The J. V. Mulvery 12-acre ranch on East Center street, outside the city limits, has been sold to W. N. Wimmer. The consideration was not made public.
William M. Irwin of the Irwin Realty Co., was endorsed for postmaster at Fullerton by the county central committee Thursday. He will get the appointment within a few days.
According to Postmaster Whitaker's report receipts of the Anaheim postoffice totaled $48,385.70 for the fiscal year ending June 30, an increase of 11 per cent over the previous year.
St. Boniface's church and parish house were recently defaced by vandals daubing K. K. K. signs on the doors. Authorities of the church have offered a reward of $100 for apprehension of the parties who performed the deed.
Charged with driving an auto in an intoxicated condition, C. O. Ross was hailed before Judge Kuechel Saturday. The judge bound him over to Superior Court under $1000 bail and as he was unable to raise the money he was taken to the county jail.

The gypsy fortune tellers, who have been doing a thriving business here for some weeks, gathered up their doll rags Saturday and departed hence. The $900 per quarter license fee was too steep for them.
At the Olympic games at Paris Tuesday Glenn Hartranft won second place in the shot put. Houser of U. S. C., was first, but Hartranft's throw was only a fraction of an inch short of his.
Fire broke out at 8 o'clock Sunday evening in the Chalmers' Feed Store on North Los Angeles street. Prompt action by the fire department subdued the flames before much headway was gained. The loss was about $100.
Dr. Walter R. Blakely was this week attending the state convention of optometrists at Pasadena. The doctor is chairman of one of the committees and took an active part in the convention.
According to Assessor Sleeper, 2311 tax exemption claims were filed by soldiers in the county this year, the total value of the property exempted being $1,228,830. This is an increase of more than 500 claims over last year.
O. C. Hardebeck, one of the Keen Hat Store promoters, was sentenced Tuesday to San Quentin for a period of not less than one, nor more than ten years. Churchhill, his partner, will have a hearing on his probation petition July 18.
Orange county citrus growers are directing their attention to their annual summer convention which is to be held July 18 and 19 at the Pasadena High School. The citrus committee of the Orange county farm bureau is making plans to send a big delegation, according to Dr. S. S. Twombly, chairman of the local committee.
"The two days' sessions are full of vital information and up to the minute interest to every grower in the industry," Dr. Twombly said. "An urgent invitation is extended to all growers in Orange county."

Notice is hereby given that at a meeting of the board of Directors held on the 7th day of July, 1924, Assessment No. 17 of three ($3.00) dollars per share was levied on the capital stock of the corporation payable immediately to the Secretary of the company at Anaheim, Orange County, California. Any stock upon which this assessment shall remain unpaid on the 11th day of August, 1924, will be delinquent and advertised for sale at public auction, and unless payment is made before will be sold on the 8th day of September, 1924, at 8 p.m. to pay for the delinquent assessment, together with the cost of advertising and expense of sale.
