OUR COUNTY AT THE NATIONAL ORANGE SHOW
Orange county supervisors considered plans for the county exhibit at the thirteenth national orange show at San Bernardino and were expected to authorize an appropriation of $1000 for that purpose.
B. F. Carver, of Los Angeles, appeared before the board with a tentative plan for the exhibit and it is expected that he will be placed in charge of the work of preparing the Orange county booth at the orange show. Mr. Carver was to submit a pencil sketch of his plan to the supervisors and the approval of the expenditure was to be completed at that time.
The plan for the exhibit is said to embody a mechanical device to keep it in motion and display Orange county's products to the best possible advantage. The exhibit will be entered in direct competition with displays from other counties and civic organizations in the southland.
Representatives of the Orange county fair committee were expected to appear before the supervisors at which by the chief scout executive, James E. West.
The last rally was held last August in the Temple theatre, Santa Ana, but there were more than one hundred people who could not get seats that night. The county council believes that there will be ample room in the big Anaheim auditorium to accommodate all who attend.
COUNTY Y. M. C. A.
WILL RE-ORGANIZE
Plans for re-organization of the Y. M. C. A. of the county fill come before the annual meeting of the county committee at its meeting earl yn February, George Chessum, county secretary, disclosed.
The work of the organization has grown to such proportions as to require adjustment in administration, Chessum explained.
Effective district organizations with general supervision b ya county-wide secretary, is proposed. There are now four districts and a fifth is proposed. The Santa Ana district includes Santa Ana, Tustin and Garden Grove; the Orange district Orange, Olive Villa Park and El Modena; and the Fullerton district includes all of northern Orange county, except Anaheim, which is a community district. It is proposed to organize a district to include all coast points.
It is proposed that the county committee be composed of three representatives from each district, with ten members elected at large.
If you are contented with your lot, you are very old or very worthless.
The plan for the exhibit is said to embody a mechanical device to keep it in motion and display Orange county’s products to the best possible advantage. The exhibit will be entered in direct competition with displays from other counties and civic organizations in the southland.
Representatives of the Orange county fair committee were expected to appear before the supervisors, at which time the matter of county aid for the fair, which was taken under advice a week ago, will come up for action.
BOY SCOUT NEWS
Scouts from all over Orange county as well as their parents and friends are anxiously looking forward to the big program which will mark the quarterly rally and court of honor to be held Friday evening in the Anaheim high school auditorium at 8 p.m. It is expected that more than fifteen hundred persons will be present at this gathering. The scout council has secured a picture entitled "The Knight of the Square Table," which is, according to authorities, the best boy picture that has ever been produced. It is thrilling, yet instructive.
Leon O. Whitsell, of Orange, chairman of the county court of honor anounced that four scouts will be invested with the highest rank in scouting—that of eagle. These four scouts are Jack Mattis, of Anaheim troop No. 1; Waldemar Borchard, of Orange troop No. 1; Jack Allen and Charles Ehrhorn of troop No. 1, Newport. The eagle badge is a sterling silver eagle suspended from a ribbon and is the badge which above every other one in scouting is coveted by every boy who becomes a scout. In addition to the badge, every scout receives a certificate from the national council signed
