OIL FIELD NOTES
The biggest well at Huntington Beach is now owned by the Amalgamated Oil company. This honor was conferred on the Amalgamated by the completion of Miley-Keck No. 22 at 4203 feet. The big producer came in wit h an initial flow of 2000 barrels and settled down to 1900. The gravity is also a record for the field, being 29. Up to the present time the greatest producer at Huntington Beach was the Standard Oil company's Bolsa Chica gun club well.
Some 860 feet of screen pipe was put in the Miley-Keck well. This is the longest string of perforated pipe ever put in a Huntington Beach well. It was necessary to put in this long string of screen in order to draw on 860 feet of oil sand the well showed. Miley-Keck 22 gives the Amalgamated company a line on the deep production possibilities of the property and will result in the carrying of all the wells down to the deep sands. The success of the deep Miley-Keck well puts the Amalgamated Oil company in position to achieve great things at Huntington Beach. The Amalgamated Oil company's Fowler 4 has caught the spirit of big production it seems. This well went on production last week a 600 barrel well at 4048 feet. For the pats eight days the well increased its output 100 barrels a day and is now making 1470 barrels.
The Holly Oil company had the pleasure of bringing in something worth while when it completed No. 3 at 4317 feet, a 1000 barrel well. This is the first real success the Holly Oil company has had in the Huntington Beach field and will undoubtedly result in the company increasing its drilling program. William Kammerer is in charge of the Holly's operations and the success of the big well reflects
1500 barrel well. Completing Clune-Doyle No. 1 at 3804 feet a nice well producing 31 gravity oil was brought in.
The General Petroleum company had another successful week at Santa Fe Springs, the success being measured with two more big producers aggregating 5000 barrels. The General Petroleum company now has seven producers at Springs and from them is getting a production of 21,000 barrels of oil daily. The two completions for the week were Santa Fe Springs No. 68, a 2550 barrel well at 3873 feet, and Santa Fe Springs No. 89, a 2500 barrel producer at 3854 feet.
Core barrel samples taken from Hamilton at 4698 feet leave little doubt about the outcome of this well. The samples show a nice oil sand that carries high gravity oil. The showing that turned the tide and put new hope into the McKeon Drilling company commenced appearing at 4660 feet and continued to where drilling was stopped at 4698 feet. A string of 8 1-4 inch pipe will be set at 4656 feet. There is an opinion current that the McKeon Drilling company passed up a showing at 3800 feet. There is nothing to this opinion or contention because core barrel samples were taken every ten feet from 3800 feet on. It seems that because the McKeon drilling company did not tell all they knew about the well every day, the knockers got busy and put in a lot of hard work. The showings and indications now point to something good and there is little doubt that the drilling contract company will come into its own when the well is finished.
The Petroleum Midway company, Ltd., has taken over all the holdings and properties of the Western Star Oil company. The Western Star Oil company retires from the field as both a developer and a producer and hereafter all wells listed under the West-
ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE ANAHEIM AMENDMENTS SECTIONS OF ORGANIZATION OF ORGANIZATION OF THE ANAHEIM GRANTING GELES & SALT LAKE COMPANY, A CORPORATION TO CONSTRUCTION OF STEAM RAILROAD WITH SPUR TRACKS AND OTHER FACILITIES, OVER CERTAIN STREETS PUBLIC PLACES IN ANAHEIM.”
The Board of Trustees Anaheim do ordain as for SECTION I. That Section NO. 480 of the passed adopted and approved day of March, 1922, and date of diminance of the City of Anaheim,” be and thereby amended to read as for SECTION I. That that and francisce is hereby Angeles & Salt Lake Company, a corporation, organs laws of the State of Utah thorized to transact business of California, and assigned to construct, and of fifty (50) years from to maintain and operate ard guage steam railroad or double track, together turn outs, side track switches, signals, telephone lines with poles tachments for use in co.with, and all necessary appurtenances and applicable railroad facilities, for the sengers, baggage, freight mail matter by means of motives propelled by steams and across certain public ways, alleys and other within the said City of Orange, State of Californias center lines on hereinafter particularly clearly.

The Holly Oil company had the pleasure of bringing in something worth while when it completed No. 3 at 4317 feet, a 1000 barrel well. This is the first real success the Holly Oil company has had in the Huntington Beach field and will undoubtedly result in the company increasing its drilling program. William Kammerer is in charge of the Holly's operations and the success of the big well reflects to whom credit is due.
The Republic Petroleum company figured in last week's new Huntington Beach production with a 475-barrel well at No. 2. The Republic re-drilled No. 2 and finished it a second time at 3185 feet.
The Shell Oil company is getting ready to make its Newlands-Borchard property produce some big wells like the Standard Oil company's Surf 2. The Shell's Newland No. 1 has been moved to a new location, and drilling will start at once.
The first well abandoned as a dry hole at Huntington Beach is to be re-drilled and deepened. The General Petroleum Community No. 1 property has been purchased by Messrs. Meredith, Taylor and Macklin, Huntington Beach men who will clean out the old well and drill it deeper. The claim of the new owners is that the Standard Oil company's Surf 2 well proves that the General Petroleum at 2300 feet stopped drilling on top of the oil sand, and that a few hundred feet more hole will achieve the desired results.
The chances for Buena Park becoming an oil field seem to be growing slimmer daily. The Standard Oil company on the Mitchell well has reached a depth of 4700 feet, and a depth for a wild-cat well that would almost make it look like a "duster." However, the Standard company is no quitter when it comes to wild-cat wells and the drilling will continue until something definite is secured.
Development work at Placentia took on a little interest with the announcement that the Brady Well syndicate had taken over the Placentia Oil company and would complete its well at an early date. The Placentia Oil company got into Richfield in the boom days and got a hole down 3275 feet.
The Petroleum Midway company, Ltd., has taken over all the holdings and properties of the Western Star Oil company. The Western Star Oil company retires from the field as both a developer and a producer and hereafter all wells listed under the Western Star company will be included in the development reports of the Petroleum Midway. Just before the merger was effected the Western Start company completed the Weaver No. 1 at Santa Fe Springs, a 1000 barrel well. Weaver No. 1 was finished at 3680 feet and flows.
William Loftus, one of California's pioneer operators, has joined with the Federal Drilling company and formed what will be known as the Anchor Oil company. The Anchor Oil company will operate at Santa Fe Springs and on Signal Hill.

The Seal Beach Oil company's No. 1 stands cemented, the 10 inch pipe at 3200 feet.
Santa Fe Springs is teeming with surprises, one after another. The Cooperative Oil Syndicate went on production last week at a little better than 1200 barrels daily, the depth of completion being 3608. Production figures this week show the well has more than doubled its production by 400 barrels.

LABOR SHORTAGE
The shortage of jobs a year ago is rapidly turning into a shortage of labor. Business leaders predict that in three months it will be difficult to find enough men to do the work that is waiting. Already that condition prevails in Detroit, Chicago and Ohio cities. The movement is being greatly stimulated by the policy of President Harding in holding frequent conferences with railroad men, steel men and other captains of industry.

IMMEDIATE ACTION
Immediate action was taken by the United States attorney for the District of Columbia in empaneling the special grand jury for the investigation of war fraud charges. No sooner had the president signed the bill authorizing the procedure than the chief justice of the supreme court of the district had directed that the purpose of the law be carried out at once. The names of those presented to the jury will not be made public unless indictments are found, in which event speedy trials will be ordered. Attorney General Daugherty is not permitting his attention to be diverted in the least by the hue and cry raised by the senate Democrats over his alleged former connection with the Morse case. Those who defrauded their government will be made to suffer regardless of who the individuals may be.
