The recent cut in artificial gas rates announced by the state railroad commission this week, according to the management of the Southern Counties Gas company, will have no effect on the gas rates in this district. The ruling of the commission effects only those gas companies of this state serving either straight artificial gas or a mixed artificial and natural product. Since the Southern Coounties Gas company, except in its Santa Barbara district, distributes straight natural gas, the present ruling of the commission based on a reduction of 25 cents per barrel in the price of fuel oil from which the artificial gas is manufactured, in no way affects the local gas rate schedules.
