NOTES ABOUT THE OIL FIELDS Items of Interest Gleaned From Southern California’s Producing Fields and Progress Made. The Petroleum Midway’s success at Buena Park continues. At 2450 the formation is a hard sand, but the drilling is going nicely. The Standard Oil company is close to 2500 feet at Garden Grove. About a hundred feet of hole a week is being made. Close watch is being kept on the formation changes. The Westminster Oil company is making splendid progress in spite of the exceptionally hard formation struck after drilling out the cement at 3000 feet. At 3300, the present depth of the hole, the formation shows hard shell and shale. The formation seems to be rather broken up and makes the logging a little difficult. It appears now that the Westminster well may have to go to 3500 or deeper before getting the oil sand. The Placentia-Pacific expects to drill out the cement this week and make a bottom water test at 3865. The first cementing failed to get all the bottom water. Conditions have been very favorable for a good well. The Placentia Oil company will be making hole and drilling ahead before the end of the week. The cement has been drilled out at 2875 feet and a water test will be made today. The management does not anticipate any difficulty with the water. The Union Oil company of California still holds first place in the heavy development of the Richfield district. Coyle and Bogue No. 2, drilled to 3394, looks like a 200-barrel well. The rods Community No. 1 has passed the 4700-foot mark and is not looking very encouraging. Richfield No. 2, drilling at 3450 feet, set 6-inch at this point. Richfield No. 3 is building rig. On the Krug property at Richfield the Petroleum Midway is bringing in its second well, Krug No. 3. At 2953 feet the tubing was installed and the new well looks good for 400 barrels. On the Isaacs No. 2 has resumed drilling and shows 1200 feet of hole. Yarnell No. 9, the last of the Yarnells, got an O.K. on the water at 3000 feet and is drilling ahead at 3200 feet, in hard sand. The Richfield-Yorba No. 2 is now the Petroleum Midway’s deep well. It is now drilling at 4455 feet and is brown shale. As yet it has not shown any very strong indications. At Huntington Beach The Amalgamated Oil company has added another well to its producing string. Huntington No. 3, completed at 2745 feet, came in a 200-barrel well. Fowler No. 1, the 600-barrel well of 10 days ago, has settled to 350 barrels and is producing 27 gravity product. Huntington 1-A is producing by heads and is not making more than a couple hundred barrels. Pearce No. 1 set 8-inch at 3503 feet, where a good showing was noted. At 2303 feet the Bolsa Chica Oil company’s Augur No. 1 struck what is believed to be a highly productive oil Pursuant to a decision at a meeting of women every farm center, formal application establishment of a home dthe Orange county farm presented to the directorganization in Santa Ana. The representation of The Placentia Oil company will be making hole and drilling ahead before the end of the week. The cement has been drilled out at 2875 feet and a water test will be made today. The management does not anticipate any difficulty with the water. Union Oil company of California still holds first place in the heavy development of the Richfield district. Coyle and Bogue No. 2, drilled to 3394, looks like a 200-barrel well. The rods are being put in. Chapman No. 5 is drilling on bottom again and in the oil sand at 4055 feet. Chapman No. 10 is showing a nice sand at 3254; No. 11 is to be re-cemented at 3034; Nos. 18, 19 and 20 are drilling. Thompson-Goodwin No. 4 shows shale and shell at 2865. Preparations are being made to bring in McFadden No. 2 at 3290 feet. It does not look like a big well. Morse No. 3 is at 3400 feet, showing oil sand. Dickson No. 1, at 3865 feet, is fishing, the formation is gray sand and is not encouraging. Yorba No. 1 is also in the gray sand at 3740 feet. Stern No. 1 is in oil sand at 3420 feet and looks good. Placentia-Orcahrd No. 1 is drilling at 1650 feet. Shacklin No. 1, drilled to 3150 feet, ost some hole and is now redrilling at 1900 feet. Union's big producer, Chapman No. 6, continues to flow 2400 barrels daily. No. 1, the discovery well of the field, is still good for more than 500 barrels a day. On the Morse property No. 2 continues to be the big well; it is doing 525 barrels daily. The Richfield-Yorba Oil company is now putting in 41-2 perforated and getting ready to put its new 500-barrel well on production. Sand heaving has hindered the work the past week somewhat. But knowing that a well is in sight the trouble of putting it on production is of no consequence. Brea Canyon Oil company will not abandon the 4200-foot test well drilled at Brea until further tests of the upper oil sands are made. At 4187 feet the deep well, No. 32, produced about 12 barrels. The 4 and 6 inch strings are to be cut and pulled out and the sands at 3200, 3400 and 3600 tested out. Some oil showings were noted at these depths as the drilling proceeded. No. 33 has been recovered at 3200 feet, the 6-inch is now going in and drilling going ahead in new favorable for a good well. At 2745 feet, came in a 200-barrel well. Fowler No. 1, the 600-barrel well of 10 days ago, has settled to 350 barrels and is producing 27 gravity product. Huntington A-1 is producing by heads and is not making more than a couple hundred barrels. Pearce No. 1 set 8-inch at 3503 feet, where a good showing was noted. At 2303 feet the Bolsa Chica Oil company's Augur No. 1 struck what is believed to be a highly productive oil sand. A string of 8-inch was set and the Bolsa Chica people are marking time to the date when the cement can be drilled out and a nice well brought in. Success has crowned the efforts of the Argonaut Oil company at Turley No. 1. The water has been shut off and the new well went on the pump last week at 200 barrels. The Gypsy Syndicate failed to get a shut-off on the water at 2199 feet and the well is being recemented. Drilling on No. 2 is now at 2000 feet and No. 3 is building rig. At 2285 feet the Huntington Owners was successful in shutting off water at well No. 2. Drilling ahead and washing every five feet of hole is now being done. For the first time in a good many months the Hurst Oil company No. 1 is standing idle. A fishing job and a desire to await further developments in the field as given as the cause of shutting the well down. Miley-Keck No. 2 is one of the Huntington Beach producers. Completed at 2925 feet this new well went on production, making 100 barrels. Nos. 3 and are rigs. No. 6 is building rig and offsets the Republic Petroleum big producer. No. 5 is rigging up for the rotary. At 2379 feet the Motor Oil and Refining company got a showing of oil. The showing was sufficient to request the setting of pipe at that depth. The state's request was complied with and the 10-inch set. Cleaning and washing out of Pan-tages-Huntington No.1 resulted in almost doubling the production. The well is doing close to 400 barrels. Formerly the production ranged around 250 barrels. The Petroleum Midway's first producer in the field, Columbia 3-1, has doubled its production. Drilled to 3007 feet the well came in at about 30 barrels. The production has increased to 65 barrels. The State Congololidated's No.1 The conference of powers in Washington, dent Harding, on behalf States, has invited, bids epochal. The president is manifest that the quotation or armament has tion to Pacific and far lem—and Mr.Harding the powers especially At 3650 feet the Fullerton Oil company's No. 16 is drilling in hard sand and showing quite a quantity of oil and gas. No. 6, drilled to 3300 feet, lost some hole and is now redrilling at 2855 feet. No. 14 stands cemented at 2395 feet and No. 17 is a new well marked with a rig. The General Petroleum, the company discovering and putting the Tonner field in Brea canyon on the map, has but one well drilling in that field now. Tonner No. 1, redrilling and deepening at 2150 feet, has drilled through almost 500 feet of oil sand and looks like a big well. Ollinda, California's first commercial oil well field, still continues to furnish producers. On the Santa Fe property the Petroleum Development company completed No. 29 at 3004 feet and put it on an 80-barrel well. No. 93, drilling at 2955 feet, is looking very good. No. 94, at 2500 feet, is showing oil and gas. No. 95 is a rig. On the Bradford property the Petroleum Development company has completed No. 5 at 4265 feet and put the new well on production. It will probably settle down to about 200 barrels a day. Bradford No. 1 continue to increase its output a few barrels each day and is now making 250. Bradford No. 3 is drilling in gray sand at 4375 feet and shows little indication of oil. Bradford Cleaning and washing out of Pattages-Huntington No. 1 resulted in almost doubling the production. The State Consolidated's No. 1, completed at 3300 feet, went on production last week and started off flowing by heads about 200 barrels. The Sun Oil company's No. 3 is making a strong bid to get into the field's production list. Sand is the thing that is preventing the well from making regular production. As it is the well is making about 100 barrels. Sun No. 1 is standing cemented at 2437 feet. No. 2 is a rig and No. 4 drilled out the cement at 2135 feet and was dry. Preparations are now being made to run in screen 8 inches and put the well on production. At 2535 feet the Standard Oil company is balling A-9 with the intention of bringing the new well in. Bolsa No. 2 is also being balled down and will be put on production soon. Jones Community No. 1 is holding its initial production of 300 barrels nicely and is making 25 gravity oil. On the Huntington A property the Standard has two wells standing cemented, six wells drilling and two new rigs up. Huntington B-2, 3 and 4 are drilling. Huntington D-1 is standing cemented at 2665 feet; D-2 is a location; E-1 is cemented and stands at 2,-535 feet; E-2 is drilling at 1100 feet; E-3 is rigging up; Bolsa No. 4 has been located; Jones Community No. 2 is building rig; Thompson No. 1 shows 2550 feet, and Torrance No. 1 is washing out at 4104 feet. That the directors would act favorably on the application, seemed assured. The request was presented by a committee named last Thursday, the personnel being Mmes. Julia Saunby, Alvin Block and Lena Schofield. The women representatives of the county's farm centers met in the forenoon jointly with the farm bureau directors. Each delegate had been empowered to act for each center concerned. W. M. Belding, of Tustin, president of the county bureau, presided. Miss Lillian Clark, demonstration leader from the state university, outlined the manner in which the home department should be launched. She stated that application for a demonstrator, who would supervise the work of the department after its organization, might not be followed by the arrival of such a demonstrator for one to ten months. She stated in explanation that the demand for such aid was so great throughout the state that there is not sufficient funds available to pay the salaries of the necessary workers. It was decided, however, that the work of organization need not be delayed, and the resolution to request the approval of the bureau directors followed. AMES, Notary Public in and for County of Orange, State of California. 6-305t TO TALK DISARMAMENT The conference of the allied great powers in Washington, which President Harding, on behalf of the United States, has invited, bids fair to be epochal. The president avers that it is manifest that the question of limitation or armament has a close relation to Pacific and far eastern problems and Mr. Harding suggests that the powers especially interested in these problems should undertake, in connection with this conference, "the consideration of all matters bearing upon their solution, with a view to reaching a common understanding with respect to principles and policies in the far east." This proposal has been communicated "to the powers concerned"—Great Britain, France, Italy and Japan, and China also has been invited to take part in the discussion relating to far eastern problems. President Harding sees fit to broaden the scope of the proposed conference as formulated and provided in the Borah amendment to the naval appropriation bill. Not a "naval holiday" alone, but a general reduction of armament on a safe and sound basis, is the proposal from President Harding. This broad and flexible plan would give the projected conference ample leeway to go so far as the sentiment and best judgment of the United States and the other great powers might deem feasible and desirable. The proposal should have tremendously important results. It should serve to bring out in relief the attitude of each and all of the great powers as to armaments; as to settlement of vexing problems affecting the Pacific and far east; and it well may provide the ground-work for forming an association of nations to perpetuate just peace throughout the world. ING the report of the Advisory Committee, and the Board of Directors, regarding an amendment of the Articles of Incorporation, definitely fixing and describing the boundaries of the District and of adopting or rejecting this report, and to transact such other business as may properly come before this meeting.
