Sympathy of his many friends here are extended to Mr. Smith in his bereavement. Some fellow who is not on the payroll has been milking cows in the night time at Mills' dairy on North Los Angeles street. He was caught at work a few nights ago, and one of the employees of the dairy sent a few shot in his direction, but apparently the bullets all missed him, as he reappeared a few nights later. Mr. Mills predicts that disaster will overtake that fellow one of these moonlight nights. A coroner's jury Saturday returned a verdict of unavoidable death in the case of George A Benton, 61 of Fulcrton, who died at the County hospital late Friday evening of a fractured skull suffered when he was thrown from a bicycle Wednesday by an automobile driven by a man named Rosenbury, of Fullerton, on the Fullerton-Brea road. Reports that the Standard Oil Company would move its service station from Chartres and Los Angeles streets, and that a bus line would erect a depot on the corner, appears to have been erroneous. The boys at the station have received no instructions to pull up their station and move it elsewhere. Anaheim people learned with regret that Dr. C. B. Hatch, pastor of the Presbyterian church at this place had resigned his pastorate and moved to Los Angeles where he will make his home with his daughter. Dr. Hatch has been at the head of the church for three or four years and during his residence here gained the esteem of the entire population. His place has not yet been filled. Captain Alexander Henry recently lost a beautiful and valuable gold locket in which he carried his certificate of membership in the Anaheim Elks Lodge. The Captain had reincluished all hope of recovering the locket but a day or two ago it was returned to him through the mail.
