MAY EXTEND ITS LINE TO CONNECT ANAHEIM
More Dope on the Intentions of the Pacific Electric
It is intimated that soon after the Pacific Electric railroad has finished its line to this city and has everything coming its way that it will begin to look over in the direction of Anaheim, with a desire to conquer new fields, says the Fullerton Tribune.
And then, after Anaheim is taken into the fold, the line might be extended on to Santa Ana, thereby completing a circle that would soon become as famous as and popular as the "Kite" of the Santa Fe or the "Balloon Route" of its own extensive system.
It is pointed out that the line in this city could easily be extended on past the sugar factory and beef-pacing house and enter Anaheim on Olive street and following that street through the city and connect with the Southern Pacific tracks, and on those rails proceed to Satna Ana. The cost of construction would be as nothing compared with the viaducts and fills that were necessary to enter Fullerton, and the extension outlined here would be most the wild quinine bush that grows widely over the Southern deserts.
MUST HAVE MORE MEAT
Because of the war the meat reserves of the world are diminished. The herds of live stock in Europe have been reduced by slaughter made necessary in order to feed the armies. Our own meat production in the years just proceeding the war was barely sufficient for our own uses. And yet we are now called upon not only to feed ourselves, but to feed Europe to a large extent. And we must do it if we win the war.
Where will be get the meat? You can do your part, on your farm and in your backyard by producing more poultry—increasing the supply of eggs and chickens, geese and ducks. Our total number of beef animals cannot be increased with sufficient quickness. Several years are required to build up cattle herds. Hogs can be incerased considerably in a year. They can be increased fatser than any other meat animal. But poultry can be doubled in a year. It offers the fastest and cheapest possible source of meat increase. That is why it is so important that everyone help in poultry production next year.

DO WEATHER CHANGES BOTHER YOU
Keeping the Kidneys Well Has Kept Many Anaheim People Well
Changeable weather, exposure, la gripe, colds and chills cause many of the kidney troubles that afflict people in winter and in spring. That is often what causes the spells of lame back, backache, shooting pains, tired feelings, dizziness, nervousness, fits of irritability and "blues." The kidneys may be clogged with impurities, set back in their work of purifying the blood, congested, irritated, or inflamed. Poisonous uric acid may be collecting where it should not, and causing mysterious aches or pains. Help the weakened kidneys—set them working right again. Try Doan's Kidney Pills which have proved their merit in thousands of cases. Read this Anaheim testimony.
Mrs. Threasa Daniel, 122 S. Claudina St., says: "Whenever I catch a cold it settles on my kidneys and brings on attacks of kidney complaint.
It is pointed out that the line in this city could easily be extended on past the sugar factory and beef-pacific house and enter Anaheim on Olive street and following that street through the city and connect with the Southern Pacific tracks, and on those rails proceed to Satna Ana. The cost of construction would be as nothing compared with the viaducts and fills that were necessary to enter Fullerton, and the extension as outlined here would be most feasible.
Since the Pacific Electric is constantly expanding and reaching out for new business for itself as well as for its big ally, the Southern Pacific, the public need not be surprised any day to see signs that will indicate that it intends to build on to Anaheim.
VALUABLE PRODUCTS FROM ARE MADE FROM CACTUS
The Yucca plant or Spanish bayonet common in the hills of Southern California, is now being used for the manufacture of brooms. Another species of the yucca is used for the manufacture of surgeons' splints, and is being experimented with for use as artificial limbs.
The common manzanita bush, grown everywhere in California, may be of value in dye making. A car load of stems and roots was recently shipped from California to an eastern dye manufacturer for experimental purposes.
The root swellings or burls of the wild lilac are proving valuable as a substitute for briar in the manufacture of tobacco pipes.
Bay rum, used in toilet preparations is manufactured from the California bay tree, and quinine is produced from eggs and chickens, geese and ducks. Our total number of beef animals can not be increased with sufficient quickness.
The more poultry and eggs we produce the more poultry and eggs we will eat. The more of that food we eat the less beef and pork we will need or want—leaving that much more to go to Europe. Thus we do indirectly the thing we can't do directly. By poultry production we get quickly more meat to win the war, although we cannot increase in that time the number of our meat animals.
Get some good hens. You will help win the war. You will reduce your own cost of living. You will turn waste into food. Get some good hens.
SOLDIER AND SAILOR INSURANCE
If a soldier or sailor is killed, and he has a wife and children, the government will provide compensation for the wife, so long as she remains unmarried, and support for the children until they become 18 years of age.
These payments range from $25 for a widow alone to $57.50 for a widow and four children. If the man is totally disabled the government will make a fixed monthly payment to him ranging from $30 a month, if he is unmarried to $75 a month if he has a wife and three or more children. Should he be so helpless as to require a nurse or attendant he will be given $30 additional. Should he lose
Mrs. Threasa Daniel, 122 S. Claudina St., says: "Whenever I catch a cold it settles on my kidneys and brings on attacks of kidney complaint. At times, the pains are quite severe and I can hardly do any stooping or lifting. I feel worn out and tired and do not have much ambition. I have bought Doan's Kidney Pills at Mullinix's Drug Store and they have never failed to fix me up in fine shape."
Price 60c at all dealers. Don't simply ask for a kidney remedy—get Doan's Kidney Pills—the same that Mrs. Daniel uses. Foster-Milburn Co. Props., Buffalo, N.Y.
