ANAHEIM’S MEN RESPOND TO THE CALL
REGISTRATION IN THIS CITY TUESDAY MUCH HEAVIER THAN WAS EXPECTED
LIST PROBABLY TOTALS 350 PEOPLE, MANY NATIONALITIES BEING REPRESENTED
Somewhere in the neighborhood of 350 young men registered their names as eligible for military duty at the eleven Anaheim precincts Tuesday. This is considerably larger than was anticipated, as the registration was not expected to reach 250. There are no slackers in Anaheim. Everybody responded. On the list are natives of the soil, Englishmen, Canadians, Frenchmen, Germans, Mexicans, Greeks, Russians, Colored men, Japs, Chinks, Turks and others from the four corners of the earth. They all obeyed the call, came forward willingly and gave such information as was required of them. Many impossible names were turned in, giving the registrars considerable extra work, but they were finally all listed to the satisfaction of both parties.
We publish herewith a list of names of those who registered. It is not complete as probably a few came in after it was taken from the cards in at least some of the precincts.

Isaac A. Christleib, pioneer resident of this section, passed peacefully away Friday morning at his ranch on West Orangethorpe, which has been his home for the last sixteen years. He leaves only two sons, Alexander and Ben, and they were at his bedside when the end came. Heart trouble was the cause of death and although he had been a chronic sufferer from the malady he had been in good health up to within the last month. He passed his 83rd birthday a month ago. Born in Pennsylvania, Mr. Christleib at the age of 21 moved to Minnesota. After a residence in that state of 41 years, he moved to California, setting for a time in Pasadena and then in Los Angeles, finally coming here.

The Anaheim Beef and Provision company has filed a claim against James T. Handley, contractor on the Brea Olinda road. The company states that it furnished meat to the value of $64.53, between April 1 and May 15, and says it has not yet received anything for it. Under the provisions of the law, the claimant asks the board of supervisors to withhold payment to the contractor until the claim is satisfied.

We haven't said a great deal lately about Suits at around $15, but that was not because we did not have them. It was simply because, in most cases, we feel that a man gets so much more desirable a purchase by spending a very little more—But in these Blue Serge suits at $15, we can offer you something worth while. They're made from a high grade material; they're fast color; they're hand tailored throughout—and we recommend them. That's enough, isn't it—if not, come in and we'll tell you the whole story about them. All sizes and models in both conservative and extreme types; and remember, we can fit, and fit well—those who are usually considered "hard to fit". Come and see.
