Salvation of Party Is Issue in California
For the success of the Republican Party in California, at the presidential primary election May 2, vote for the 26 candidates nominated at the legally-called Regular Republican Convention held at the Palace Hotel, San Francisco, March 4, 1916.
This convention was attended by 500 in person and 300 by proxy, and was composed of the members of the State Central Committee and the various County Central Committees throughout the State, these being the legally-elected representatives of the party.
This convention named 26 plain, ordinary representative Republicans, not classified old-line Republicans, not classified administration Republicans, but Republicans whose names guarantee that they can be relied upon to do their full duty toward all Republicans and insure harmony in the party and victory over Democratic watchful waiting and misrule.
Opposed to the Regular Republican ticket is the Johnson-Earl “hydro-electric” hand-picked clique selected at the St. Francis Hotel, February 26th, by some fifty “invited” guests of Earl, representing only the Earl interests, but now masquerading as “United” Republicans whose admitted purpose is for disharmony.

The presidential preferential primary election occurs on Tuesday next, May 2. It is important that this great Pacific coast state, voting so near the head of all the delegations at the convention, should go to Chicago uninstructed, as of all the other delegations already selected, excepting those having favorite sons at home. More than 500 delegates to the Chicago convention have already been selected, and upward of 350 are unpledged.
In this state the fight is between the real true blue republican delegates, nominated at a state convention at which more than 500 delegates were personally present, and an absurd hand-picked bunch of political fakers, styling themselves united republicans, who have no more claim upon the support of the republican party than a Chinaman.
These fake delegates occupy the first 26 places upon the republican ballot, as voters will find them when the ballot is handed them on election day. They have no decent moral right to be under the republican head-

personally present, and an absurd hand-picked bunch of political fakers, styling themselves united republicans, who have no more claim upon the support of the republican party than a Chinaman.
These fake delegates occupy the first 26 places upon the republican ballot, as voters will find them when the ballot is handed them on election day. They have no decent moral right to be under the republican heading. They secured this place upon the ballot by sheer, downright trickery.
The regular republican nominees begin with the name of Walter Bordwell and end with C. C. Chapman. Republicans should stamp their ballots as the facsimile of the ballot in the adjoining column illustrates.
Do not use a pencil in marking your ballot, and do not scratch the name of any candidate upon the ballot.
Use the stamp which you will find in your booth, and stamp the cross in the squares set opposite the names of the 26 true blue republican candidates, beginning with Walter Bordwell and ending with C. C. Chapman.
If you use a pencil in marking your ballot, it will be thrown out; and if you mark the name of any candidate upon the ticket in any way other than by using the stamp provided for this purpose, your vote will be invalidated.
Be on your guard, republicans of California! The whole nation will have its eyes upon you on Tuesday next. Do as your political brethren have done in the great states of the east, in New England and the middle west, and vote for an uninstructed delegation, beginning with Bordwell and ending with Chapman.
If these faking united delegates had their names placed in a column by themselves, properly headed, instead of being upon the republican ballot, they would be defeated 40 to 1 in the state. But their names have been placed in the republican column to deceive the people.
Be not deceived, republicans of California! Be upon your guard! Stamp your ballot as it is here stamped in the adjoining column. Begin with Bordwell, end with Chapman.
Be on your guard, republicans of Orange county! Be on your guard! Be on your guard!
