NOMINEES
In the adjoining column will be found a reproduction of the republican ticket to be voted at the presidential preference primary on Tuesday, May 2. The ticket contains the names of 52 candidates for delegates. By the shady work of the county clerk of Alameda county, who is not a republican, and who certified in five hours time to the names of 46,000 signatures to "United republican" petitions, the secretary of state was compelled by law to place the names of "united republican" candidates first upon the ballot. The ticket published here with shows how republican voters should cast their ballots on election day.
Vote for the 26 republican delegates beginning with Walter Bordwell and ending with C. C. Chapman. These are republican delegates, selected by the republican state convention, which was attended by more than 500 delegates from all the counties in Californias. The "United republican" candi-

Vote for the 26 republican delegates beginning with Walter Bordwell and ending with C. C. Chapman. These are republican delegates, selected by the republican state convention, which was attended by more than 500 delegates from all the counties in California. The "united republican" candidates were named at a conference of 40 people in San Francisco, dominated by Hiram Johnson, who is registered as a progressive. Do not vote for them, republicans! They are unworthy of your support. They are political wolves in sheep's clothing trying to deceive the people, and trying to deceive the republican party. Do not support them. Do not vote for them.
If you are a true republican, vote the true republican ticket. Begin with Walter Bordwell, and end with C. C. Chapman.
Stamp you ticket exactly as it is printed in the adjoining column on this page. Do not vote for more than 26 names. If you do, you invalidate your ballot. Do not scratch the names of any candidate upon the ticket. If you do, you invalidate your ballot and it will be thrown out. Do not place any mark upon your ballot except to stamp your cross in the squares opposite the names of the republican candidates for delegates.
Do not be deceived by fake posters and fake tickets sent you through the malls. This is the only ballot which will be handed to you on election day.
Be on your guard, republicans! If you wish to defeat Mr. Wilson for president, stamp your ballot with the stamp, which you will find in your booth, as the ballot is stamped in the adjoining column. Do not use a penil for marking your ballot. If you do your ballot will be invalidated. Use the stamp provided for stamping your ballot. This you will find in your booth on election day. Stamp your ballot as it is here stamped.
Begin with Walter Bordwell, and end with C. C. Chapman. That is the only way in which you can vote for true blue republican delegates to the national convention at Chicago.
Be on your guard, republican voters of Orange county! Be on your guard! Be on your guard!

FULLERTON CONDEMNS TWO BRIDGES
The Fullerton board of trade last week passed a resolution condemning the proposal to build a bridge at Richfield, and threatening to vote against the bond issue for bridge and road repairs. The resolution read:
"Be it resolved that the action of the county board of supervisors at a meeting held April 5, 1916, when they decided to build two bridges over the Santa Ana river; one at the old bridge location near Yorba and one at a point between said bridge and the Olive bridge; is considered by this body to be wrong, unnecessary and uncalled for! that a second bridge is useless, starting nowhere and going nowhere; that we condemn said action and feel if this plan is not changed, we cannot support the bonds at the coming election, and that this body hopes the said supervisors will further consider this matter and change their plans before the election, so we can assist in the carrying of the proposed bonds."
Your ship may never come in, but if you save the pennies and place them in a term account with the Anaheim National bank, it may become a ferry boat to take you across some dangerous stream when you need to get.

Stamp a cross after the name of each candidate as indicated above. These candidates were selected at a conference of over 500 Republicans holding proxies for 340 more.
This ticket is indorsed by the Republican State Central Committee and the Republican Central Committee of each of the 58 Counties of this State.
A vote for this ticket is a vote for harmony in the party.

Dr. McMullen has been practicing osteopathy in Fullerton for the past four or five years.

REORGANIZATION OF THE GAS COMPANIES
New Company Asks Permission to issue $2,750,000 in Bonds
The gas operators that several years ago bought the gas plants at Santa Ana, Orange, Anaheim and Fullerton and merged them under one company the Southern Counties Gas Company, is spreading its field all over Southern California. A few months ago this company absorbed the gas plants of the Southern California Edison company in many of the smaller cities of Southern California.
F. R. Bain of Los Angeles last week made public the personnel of the board of directors and principal stockholders of the new People's Gas company, which concern has petitioned

Beach company is valued in conjunction with the Southern California Edison company, the amount affixed at $2,564,538.96.
"We have already started improvements at different plants," Mr. Bain declared. "We were delayed to some extent by the illness of the chief engineer in Chicago. But now our plans will develop rapidly."
Charging that a combination of fruit importers had raised $140,000 with which to lobby against a duty on citrus fruit, Senator John D. Works of California, speaking from the floor of the senate, Tuesday, urged that the free sugar repealing act be amended so as to provide a duty of one cent per pound on lemons and grapefruit. "The work of this lobby," said the senator, "is the most corrupt effort to influence legislation that I have ever seen in congress."
AN ANAHEIM MAN GIVES EVI-DENCE
His Testimony Will Interest Every Anaheim Reader
The value of local evidence is indisputable. It is the kind of evidence we accept as true because we know we can prove it for ourselves. There has been plenty of such evidence in the Anaheim papers lately, and this straightforward testimony has established a confidence in the minds of Anaheim people that will not be easily shaken.
Louis Dauser, retired farmer, 425 W. Center St., Anaheim, says: "I suffered with sharp stitches in my back that took me at any time and without warning, leaving my back so weak, lame and painful that I could hardly hold up. Believing this trouble was due to disordered kidneys, I used Doan's Kidney Pills. They removed the trouble. I have depended on this medicine whenever I have had any pain or lameness in my back since." Statement given March 22, 1913.) Still uses Doan's. On February 15, 1916, Mr. Dauser said: "I still retain my faith in Doan's Kidney Pills and always receive the best of results whenever I use them."
Yours truly,
J. C. JOPLIN,
Treasurer of Orange County.
"There is nothing left to do now but go straight ahead," said Mr. Joplin. "The money will be called in, and the matter of protecting it will have to be dealt with. The safe now in use at the treasurer's office is hardly big enough for its daily work, let alone gvling room for the storage of over $200,000."
A new vault, guards, the renting of a safety deposit vault in some of the banks, the securing of a surety company bond—these are some of the problems that will now have to be wrestled with by the county authorities.
"I certainly am going to demand of the board of supervisors that it furnish me, with guards until an adequate vault and safe are provided for the treasurer's office," said Joplin.
NOTICE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC
On and after the 25th of April, 1916, all money paid in to the County Treasury must be paid in cash, Lawful Money of the United States only will be taken. All demands against the County, due and payable at the office of the County Treasurer. No checks or exchanges sent out unless paid for. By order of,
J. C. JOPLIN,
Treasurer of Orange County.

F. R. Bain of Los Angeles last week made public the personnel of the board of directors and principal stockholders of the new People's Gas company, which concern has petitioned the state railroad commission to be permitted to purchase certain plants of the Southern Counties Gas company, the Southern California Edison company and the Long Beach Consolidated Gas company. The new corporation will form one great company out of the many smaller concerns.
The organizers and backers of the new gas company are F. R. Bain, Mrs. F. R. Bain, Charles G. Dawes, Rufus C. Dawes, Charles H. Dickey, and Andrew Cook. Edward G. Cowdery, vice-president of the People's Gas, Light & Coke company of Chicago, has but a very small interest, Bain stated, while William R. Dawes has no interest at all in the new company. All the principal stockholders are personal friends of Mr. Bain.
The directors are A. S. Bradford, John Bartel, C. E. Holcomb, J. L. Osmun, Harrison Arms, Theodore Stevens, LeRoy M. Edwards, R. C. Dawes and Charles H. Dickey, all prominent bankers, attorneys and financiers of Southern California and the East.
According to Bain, the State Railroad commission has been requested to permit the company to issue $2,750,000 in bonds, $650,00 debenture and $2,000,000 in stock. Mr. Bain expects the new company to be operating by May 1.
In their petition to the railroad commission, the value of the property of the Southern Counties Gas company is set at $1,444,709.96. The Long hardly hold up.
