A PRETTY WEDDING One of the recent delightful occasions was the wedding of Nellie E. Struble of Fillmore, Cal., and James H. Welder, a druggist of Portland, Ore. The marriage took place on Tuesday evening, Dec. 21, at the elegant home of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Lemen of S. Los Angeles street., the bride being a sister of Mr. Lemen. The ceremony was performed by Rev. F. W. Mitchell, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. All the usual conventionalities were observed. The bride wore an exquisite gown of mouse gray silk, and during the service carried a beautiful shower bouquet. The groom wore, or course, the usual conventional black. The rooms were tastefully decorated with plumosa fern, roses and other beautiful flowers indigenous to Southern California. And to add to the delightfulness of the event, Mrs. Lemen served a sumptuous wedding dinner. Those present as guests were Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dripps of St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mitchell of Denver, and Mr. and Mrs. John Montandon of Anaheim. The bride was the recipient of an unusual wedding gift from the groom—an automobile in which they were spirited away in the darkness toward their future home in Fillmore. Next Sunday evening a special service of Christmas music will be given at the Presbyterian church. This will be a fitting close to the Christmas celebration. In the morning the Christmas thought will be held in mind in both song and sermon. The pastor will preach on the theme, "If Christ had not come." HIGH SCHOOL PICKUPS By Isma Steadman The second basketball league game of the season was played, Dec. 10, between Santa Ana and Anaheim on the Anaheim grounds. In this game Anaheim showed her visitors and spectators what a clean game was like. Never before had the Anaheim boys used such fine judgment and teamwork. Hardly an error against Anaheim marked the game and it came to a close with a score of 46 to 23 in favor of Anaheim. At three o'clock on the afternoon of Dec. 17 our team went to Fullerton with a backing of some 150 rosters! The line-up for Anaheim's team was Dale Quarton, center; Clevenger Megede, George Kemp, forwards; Ben Hemmerling, Hartwell Roane, guards. This proved to be a rather fast game, but the victory was Fullerton's. The score was 49 to 23 in favor of the R. H. S., who were on top of their antagonists throughout the battle. The Freshman basketball team has a victory inscribed on its record today as a result of its clash with the Senior team on the A. H. S. court last Monday afternoon. It was a close score, the Senior boys only being 2 points behind that of their antagonists when the time was called. Following is the line-up of the Senior team: Fred Selms, center; John Bradley, Edward Hemmerling, guards; Wm. Jessurulin, Harpster, forwards. The Freshman line-up was: Danker, Hiles, guards; Vogle, center; A. Peterman, Evans, forwards. The student body and faculty are looking forward to a joyous Xmas vacation next week. Recent returns show proceeds of $2.20 to $2.30 a box after all expenses of packing and shipping are paid.
