In the suit of Hattie P. Marford vs. J. D. Heitsheusen, in which the former asked damages in the sum of $1,000 for alleged injuries received when she was struck by Heitsheusen's auto at the oil wells more than a year ago, Judge Thomas handed down a decision last week awarding the plaintiff $500. The accident happened more than two years ago. The young lady was bumped by the fender of the Heitsheusen car. She declared at the time her injuries were slight and refused the assistance of the car to take her home. Afterward she instituted suit for damages and the court declares she was injured to the extent of $500.
Mayor Max Nebelung contemplates leaving next month for a visit to his old home in Germany, which he has not seen since leaving for this country 45 years ago. Mr. Nebelung came to Anaheim in 1869 and has since resided here, being one of the oldest as he is one of the highest respected of our citizens. He has filled many positions of honor and trust, and was for a number of years city clerk. For two years past he has been mayor of the city. He has a sister living at the old home and will spend some time visiting her as well as other old-time friends in that country. He will be absent until the end of the year.
Supt. McFadden of the Anaheim Union Water Company reports that the company is building another water pumping plant at Crowther's corner about 1,400 feet west of the other plant and that it will be in operation in a short time. It will be operated with a 150 horsepower electric motor and is expected to develop 300 miner's inches of water. The new plant will cost about $4,000 and will be of great assistance in supplying water for summer irrigation. The water company now has many thousands of dollars invested in these pumping plants and finds them profitable notwithstanding the fact that it gets half of the water from the Santa Ana River at Rincon.
