A. H. Squire will shortly begin the erection of a five-room modern cottage in the Zeyn tract, the cost being close to $2,000. W. W. Scott is the contractor.
Ingram Bros. received another carload of Fords the latter part of the week. The machines had all been disposed of before their arrival. The Ford is one of the most popular cars on the market.
Mr. and Mrs. Otto Fillbaum, who have been making a honeymoon tour of two or three weeks in the vicinity of San Francisco and other points north, returned to Anaheim last Saturday and have taken up their residence at the Weber apartment house.
Mrs. Fillbaum was Miss Ada Danker of Olive and the young couple were married on September 8th. Last Saturday the force at the Orange County Wine Company's establishment, where Otto is employed, presented him with a beautiful upholstered easy chair.
City Clerk Merritt announces that the building permits for the month of September aggregated $14,150.

Mr. and Mrs. John Hartung returned on Tuesday evening from a two-weeks' visit to San Francisco and other points.
Rev. C. H. M. Sutherland left Wednesday morning to attend the annual conference of his church at Long Beach.
Registration of voters for the coming election under the law must close 30 days before the election. This would mean at midnight on October 5th, but as the 5th falls on Sunday all who care to vote must register before midnight on Saturday, October 4.
Some rapid work has been done on the Dreyfus building, as the shell is already completed and the glass fronts and interior only remain for the workmen. It is one of the best business blocks in Anaheim and adds greatly to the appearance of the business center of town.
W. H. Schuman, formerly manager of the Adelheid bath house, and Mrs. A. Konig returned from San Francisco Sunday, and after spending three weeks in Anaheim will leave for Panama. The trip to Panama is a business one but they expect to view the sights of interest along the great ditch also.
Glenn L. Martin, the aviator, has returned to his home after a three-months' tour through the East during which he aviated at Chicago, the Buffalo Perry Centenial, Saskatoon, Canada and Creston, Iowa. During the coming winter he will attempt a flight from Los Angeles to San Francisco, using a land machine.

Under Sheriff Law and three other deputies, raided Martin Guerra's house near the Anaheim sugar factory Sunday night and got four men, $22.50 and two decks of cards. Monday Guerra, Doretio Lopez and Pedro Mares pleaded guilty before Justice Cox, who fined them $50 each. G. H. Aguayo pleaded not guilty and his trial was set for September 30.
Mrs. C. Rehwoldt will be at Falkenstein's store to teach the Royal Society work on Friday from 2 to 4 P.M. Charges, 50 cents per lesson.

On Tuesday evening in the Eagles' hall the Anaheim Liberty League was formed to press the campaign for the preservation of the liberties of the citizens of Anaheim in the wet and dry election. Their next meeting will be held at Eagles' hall on Friday night, October 3, at 8 P.M. All liberal minded people invited.
A reception will be given the freshmen class of the Anaheim Union high school next Friday evening by the three upper classes. A farce will be given by the seniors and a splendid program will be furnished by the same class. The juniors will serve dainty refreshments. Toasts will be given and a great time is expected.
The revival meeting of the Seventh Day Adventists in the tent, corner of Olive and Broadway, is still in progress and is drawing good crowds. Revs. Folkenberg and Prout are in charge and they announced on pitching their tent that they came merely to preach the Gospel and were not interested in the political affairs of Anaheim.

The duck season opened yesterday morning and as President Wilson failed to sign the new bill governing the conduct of hunters, the old law, which permitted shooting a half hour before sunrise stands. The new law prohibits shooting until the sun appeared above the horizon. Many Anaheim hunters left Tuesday night for the grounds.

Harry Hanna is here from Vista superintending the gathering of walnuts at his father's ranch at Miraflores. Harry reports a minimum fall of rain the past season in San Diego county, and light crops harvested in consequence. He states weather prophets at Vista are predicting a wet winter, and he will seed a large acreage of grain. He will remain here a month or six weeks. Young ladies looking for eligible bachelors will please take notice.
