Guy Duckworth, son of Postmaster and Mrs. J. W. Duckworth, arrived from Honolulu on Saturday, accompanied by his wife and two children. He will remain for a visit of two months. Mr. Duckworth is manager of a large mercantile establishment connected with one of the largest sugar plantations in the island.
A. E. Rothermael, the Fullerton butcher who was arrested three weeks ago for maintaining a nuisance at the Fleischman slaughter house, was tried before a jury in Judge Howard's court Wednesday. A lot of offal from the slaughter house which Rothermael held under lease remained unburied and complaint against him was filed by the health officials. The accused pleaded that he had turned it over to another party to bury and believed it had been properly disposed of. He was found guilty of carelessness and the judge imposed a fine of $10.
Alexander Henry came down the street Wednesday dressed cap-a-pie in his Highland costume, with a bagpipe under his arm, weapons on various parts of his person ready for quick action, and numerous medals on his breast. He wanted to show the people, he said, what a Highland warrior in his war paint looked like. Mr. Henry was wearing a medal presented him by Queen Victoria for services in the Crimea, another from the English government for his campaign in the Baltic under Sir Charles Napier, another from the Sultan of Turkey, and four chained together from Britain for gallantry at the battles of Inkerman, Balaklava, Alma and Sevastopol. The costume was a picturesque one of brilliant colors and represented an outlay of $800.

Last week the Wickersheim Implement Company, Fullerton, sold an I. H. C. auto truck to H. S. Teel of Garden Grove and a 20 horse power Little Mogul tractor to J. E. Brown, also of Garden Grove.
The Wickersheim Implement Company, Fullerton, sold 12 Ford cars last week, closing out their entire stock of cars including the carload received from the factory with the exception of two roadsters.

William McFarland has returned from Redondo after an absence of two months. After a brief visit here he contemplates making a trip to Imperial.
Miss Grace Everhardy, of Leavenworth, Kan., who has been visiting relatives in town for several weeks the guest of her cousin, Miss Anne Everhardy, will return to her home the latter part of next week.
Peter Morrison, the Anaheim centenarian, attended the veteran's reunion at Huntington Beach and returned Tuesday wearing a Michigan badge. In addition to his services in the Mexican war he served three years in the great civil strife having belonged to the 22d Michigan volunteer infantry.
Superintendent Ralph McFadden, of the Anaheim Union Water Company, has been up to Red Rock Canyon in the interest of his company and reports 1,000 inches of water in the main canal. This large stream is supplemented by a flow of 800 inches from the company's three pumping plants.
A collision between an automobile and a buggy on Lemon street near the postoffice Tuesday resulted in a badly damaged buggy. Miss Frank Webb was seated in the vehicle which was standing at the curb. The auto was driven by Ed Karloff and in turning into Lemon from Center street his machine made a wider circle than the anticipated and struck the buggy in the rear. One wheel was completely demolished and other parts were broken.
Mr. Karloff drove on his way but returned later and paid all damages.

L. Nemetz goes to Hermosa Beach on Saturday and will return on Sunday evening with Mrs. Nemetz, who has been sojourning at that resort for the past three months for benefit of her health. Her many friends here will rejoice to know that she has entirely recovered from her recent illness, which at one time assumed a critical nature.
A cripple stretched on a couch on wheels drawn by three dogs pulled into Anaheim Tuesday. He came from San Diego and was on his way to Los Angeles. In addition to the couch he carried a small perambulator which one of the dogs would draw when he wanted to go on a shopping expedition. The animals were in harness and worked in perfect unison.
The Wickersheim Implement Company, Fullerton, expect another carload of Ford cars the latter part of this week and another carload next week and expect that all of these will be sold by the time of the arrival of each carload. Since January 1st they have sold 89 Fords to date. Before October 1st they will increase this number to 120, notwithstanding that this is their first year in the automobile business.
