BISHOP WILL BE ON DECK Considering Various Matters for Benefit of People Assemblyman Clyde Bishop of this district, may be called upon to put measures through the next legislature of particular interest in this county. The Orange county farmers' mutual fire insurance company wants the law so amended that it may write policies of a maximum of $6500, instead of $4500, as the law now provides. Some of the farmers west of the river, in the pumping plant region, want the law amended to further regulate the waste flow of artesian wells. The present law prohibits the wasting of water, but has a clause excluding those wells the flows of which are used to propogate game. This law lets the gun clubs out, and the farmers assert that the gunclubs waste more water from the underground supply than all other artesian owners combined. Bishop may also be called upon to take sides in a measure said to have been planned by the gun clubs. This is a state law preventing hunting on public highways. At present, much of the available hunting grounds of the duck lands are in the hands of clubs, and farmers and other hunters not rich or lucky enough to be in a gun club, hunt along the roads, oftentimes between preserves. Those hunters will fight the proposed legislation, LOCAL NOTES Members of the Four Four club were entertained by Mr. and Mrs. P. Weisel on Wednesday evening at their dinner and Los Angeles on the evening car. Her horse took fright at the car and ran away throwing her to the ground and breaking the arm. Head for the Southern California Sugar Co. on Tuesday filed an answer for that corporation to the amended complaint of Frank Monaghan in his suit against the Case, Hinze Co. and the sugar company. Monaghan seeks to compel the bullder, the Case, Hinze Co., to bring the factory to a capacity of 600 tons daily, which capacity the plaintiff alleges the factory cannot maintain. Answer filed by the sugar company denies everything in plaintiff's complaint. Though Judge West decided the case on Dec. 2, 1909, the attorneys in McCulley against Gary have not until this week presented the judgment for signing. The judgment in favor of plaintiff has been filed with the county clerk. H. C. McCulley and his wife sued C. N. Gary and B. H. Lovelace to rescind a deed to property given under misrepresentation, to the defendants, by the plaintiffs in exchange for Los Angeles property. The judgment signed restores the title to plaintiffs. Gary's name is familiar. Eighteen months ago he was shot by Reinart, who was convinced that Gary had manipulated a deed and mortgage in such a manner as to defraud Reinart. The latter was tried for attempted murder, but was promptly acquitted. CORRECTED A newly-made magistrate was gravely absorbed in a formidable document. Raising his keen eyes, he said to the man who stood patiently awaiting the award of justice: "Officer" what is this man charged with?" "Bigotry, your worship, he's got three wives," replied the officer. The new justice rested his elbows on the desk and placed his finger tips together.
