The supreme court has reversed the superior court of Orange county in the case of Will Chormicle against the Southwest warehouse company. In the lower court a verdict was returned in favor of the plaintiff. The defendant appealed and will get a new trial. The plaintiff alleged that one of the employees of the defendant sold him a lot of seed which was represented to be bearded barley, and that, when planted, it proved to be beardless barley. Plaintiff alleged by reason of this substitution, he had only a scanty crop. The defendant denied it had given any warranty as to the seed.

Walter Baker, secretary of the democratic county central committee, was in town on Monday and placed an advertisement in our columns referring to democratic candidates for county office. The same will be found elsewhere in this issue. The democracy will probably not name candidates for all the county offices, and will unite their energies upon those whose names appear in the official announcement. Mr. Baker is conducting a clean campaign, and has never conducted any other. He is such a good fellow that it is too bad all his candidates must be defeated.

Monthly Meeting and Big Feed Held at Odd Fellows' Hall
The monthly meeting and banquet of the Orange county chambers of commerce was held at Odd Fellows hall last evening. A big feed was scheduled for one of the events of the evening, and Dr. Dobson was reported by wireless to be headed this way for his usual spiel. As we go to press the cavalcade has not yet entered the drawbridge on the south, but Prof. Mills reported late in the afternoon that there would be things doing.
The resignation of Mr. Chapman as one of the highway commissioners, leaving the northern end of the county unrepresented, was a subject that also bid fair to engage the attention of the banqueters.
Mound City Paints go farthest, wear longest, look best. Jos. Backs & Son.
The public is cordially invited to attend the regular meetings of the boar of directors of the Anaheim chamber of commerce every second and fourth Tuesday of each month. If you are a public spirited citizen of this city you will be interested.

The Western Tea and Coffee Store will move from its present location to the Ruhmann block on North Los Angeles street. A larger stock of teas, coffees and spices will be carried, and the public is invited to call and be convinced. Gold Nugget coffee, at 25 cents per pound, continues the best coffee on the market, or your money back and you keep the coffee.
The proprietor of a moving picture show takes exceptions to an article published in these columns last week, headed "A Boomerang Lemon," which, his attorney advises us, he considers libelous. The article referred to the rescinding of the right of another picture show to use the same films of the first-named party. The words "underhanded business methods" and "contemptible" were used. No prejudice was entertained by the writer to the moving-picture showman, nor was any attack upon his business intended. So far as the reference to any contemptible act or unbusinesslike methods on his part are concerned, the same are rescinded.
