Suit to foreclose a mechanic's lien on twenty acres of land near Garden Grove has been filed in the Superior Court by E. E. Angell and Chas. H. Mann of this city, against E. L. Veuve. Amount involved is $57.90 and is alleged to be due on the price of installation of a pumping-plant.
Property belonging to the Balboa Heights Land and Water Company was sold Saturday morning in front of the county courthouse under foreclosure of mortgage held by the Irvine Company and was bought by the Irvine Company for $45,927.78. The property includes two houses and certain water rights, besides the land, which latter was originally purchased from the Irvine Company and mortgaged back as security for the payment.

Frank Walter is out again after being seriously injured some days ago in an automobile accident while on his way from this city to Fullerton. His machine was overturned and he sustained a fracture of three ribs.
County Clerk Williams has been notified by the state board of dental examiners that the license of Dr. M. A. Menges of Santa Ana has been revoked. Dr. Menges has been practicing dentistry at Santa Ana for many years.
A large congregation assembled in the remodeled and enlarged Methodist church on Sunday to celebrate the close of the conference year. At 11 a.m. they dedicated their church, the sermon being preached by Rev. G. F. Bovard, president of the University of Southern California. In the evening Pastor Moore spoke on "The Multifold Christ." There was special music at both services.
That Filomeno Valenzuela has not been true to the trust put in him is the charge of Antonio de los Reyes, aged 21, of Yorba. Antonio has filed a petition in the Superior Court, asking that Valenzuela be made to account for the funds and property entrusted to him as executor of the estate of Antonio's father, Julian de los Reyes, who died February 8, 1903. Judge West has cited Valenzuela to appear in court tomorrow. The petitioner states that when his father died Valenzuela, under the will, took charge of a ranch of 160 acres at Yorba to be held until the three heirs were of age. Antonio asserts that Mrs. B. J. Cook and daughter Miss Kate Cook, left on Monday for a week's visit with relatives and friends in San Diego.

The regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Aid society of the Presbyterian church will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. All ladies of the church and congregation are cordially invited.
Wm. Medbury of Napa City has been a guest of his sister, Mrs. W..I. Carver, whom he had not seen for 48 years, the past week. Yesterday they went to Los Angeles to meet a sister whom he had not met for 53 years. Mr. Medbury is one of the original California 49ers.
Mrs. Tucker has presented the chamber of commerce with a rare begonia, a variety propagated by the late Mrs. Sheppard of Ventura. A plant of this variety, a year older, is valued at $25. The flowers are unusually large and the plant a free bloomer.

County Assessor W. M. Scott has been appointed a delegate to attend the annual convention of the Fraternal Aid Association which this year will meet at Lawrence, Kansas, Oct. 12th. He secured leave of absence for sixty days from Oct. 1st to make the trip.The state of California will send fifteen delegates to the convention.
Bean growers in the county are being offered $3.50 per 100 pounds for their limas.The first offers were made Monday,having come as the result of the fixing of prices by the Bean Growers' Association,composed largely of Ventura people.The buyers here are informed that the association set $3.75 last Saturday as the price for its beans.The includes brokerage.
Prof.Eddie Crowther has enlisted fifteen new members of the city band,and is desirous of securing four men for saxophones and two for basinclined who desire to take up these instruments will learn something to their advantage by applying to him.He has sent to Boston for eight clarionets,and with the fourteen old members of the band will soon have a musical organization second to none in Southern California.

Charles H. Parker, defaulting employee of the Edison Company, who disappeared a few weeks ago and has not since been heard from, has been charged with embezzlement in a complaint sworn to by Frank B. Martin, local manager for the electric company, who alleges that Parker appropriated to his own use the sum of $114.70 belonging to the Edison Electric company.
Rev. Kuhnle who for two years past has been pastor of the German Methodist church goes to Los Angeles today to take up his work in that city. He will be succeeded by Rev. Spaeth of Los Angeles. Rev. Kuhnle has been popular with his congregation during his residence here and his pastorate has been successful. He has remodeled and enlarged his church and erected a parsonage. A building lot has been purchased at Orange for the erection of a German Methodist church there, and plans are now in hands of contractors for erection of the edifice. On Monday evening a farewell reception was tendered him and his family at the parsonage, at which refreshments were served and an enjoyable evening had by all. Regret is expressed at his departure, with best wishes for his continued success in his new field of activity.

Mr. Neff returned on Saturday evening from Redlands and Rialto, where he held farmers' institutes last week. He came by the electric line to Garden Grove, where he was met by an employe in his buggy. The horse became frightened at the lights of a passing auto, and both buggy shafts were broken. The vehicle was repaired temporarily and the journey home continued without further mishap. Mr. Neff drives about in a light spring wagon while the buggy was taken to a shop for repairs.
George Strobel, formerly a resident of Anaheim, was in town Tuesday, accompanied by his wife and four children. George is a son of Major Max Strobel, who was mayor of this city in the 70's. Major Strobel died in London in 1873 while acting as the representative of a syndicate of purchasers of Catalina island. George has been farming in San Luis Obispo county. A year ago he sold his farm, and some time past has been enjoying a camping trip through Southern California.
An illustrated health talk under auspices of the Los Angeles branch of the Vlavi company, will be given at the Masonic hall, Anaheim, on Friday, Sept. 24, at 2:30 p.m. All ladies are cordially invited. This health talk will be given by one of the experienced lecturers in connection with the educational hygienic department of the world wide Vlavi movement. This is an opportunity that the women of Anaheim cannot afford to miss, because this illustrated talk will be equal to any that are given by paid lecturers.

Levi Mann attended the Eagle's aerie meeting at Long Beach one evening last week.
Joseph Gantier fell from his buggy on Sunday morning and suffered a fracture of both bones of the left leg at the ankle. Drs. Johnston and Wickett reduced the fracture, and sent the man to the Fullerton hospital.
Gautier died at 7 o'clock on Tuesday evening. His body was brought to Jos. Backs' undertaking rooms here and was buried at 4 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon.

The usual choral service was sung in St. Michael's church on Sunday evening. The offertory solo, "Jerusalem," was artistically sung by Mrs. Geo. L. Dietrich, much to the pleasure of those present.
The will of Albert W. Brooks has been filed for probate by Attorney W. F. Heathman. The estate consists of $200 cash and an acre on Grand avenue, Santa Ana, worth $1500. The will leaves $1 to the widow, Mrs. Juli A. Brooks, and the remainder of the

RECEPTION TO BRIDAL COUPLE
Rev. Mitchell and Miss Daisy F. Swerdfeger were married on Monday afternoon at the residence of the bride's parents in Santa Ana. The newly married couple were after the ceremony driven in Capt. Williams' auto to their home on Olive street, in this city, where they have gone to housekeeping.
Last evening a reception was tendered them at the Presbyterian church by members of the congregation They were recipients of congratulations on all sides, and a handsome wedding-gift was bestowed on them.
