COUNTY NOTES
SANTA ANA
County Officer Ball and District Attorney Davis made a trip along the outfall sewer and as a result of their investigations it is probable that injunction will be brought against A. A. Fakuda, a Japanese who rents the city's sewer farm, and against others who use sewage for irrigation purposes. Should this suit be brought it is probable that the result will be that the city will have to build an addition to its septic tank. At the present time the sewage is not run through the tanks, which are nothing more than sediment tanks and do not allow of the disintegration and destruction of germs. The Health Officer claims that the spreading of sewage that has not passed through the septic process or its use for irrigation constitutes a nuisance and as such can be abated.
A subscription list is being signed by property owners on South Main street, for the purpose of raising a sum of money to go into the courts and fight the city's proposal to put down cement concrete gutters on South Main street. An injunction suit stopping procedure by the Trustees will be brought.

On the second ballot the jury that tried Edward Reinert on a charge of having attempted to kill C. N. Gary, a real estate agent, who, Reinert believed, had swindled him out of $4000, returned a verdict of not guilty. The plea of the defense was that Reinert, a hard-working German, on finding himself defrauded, became worked up to such a pitch that he was not responsible for his act. Reinert on March 24th fired a bullet into Gary which is still imbedded in the latter's right lung. The German owned property near Lobo station. Gary, as agent, negotiated a sale to his cousin, B. N. Lovelace. Reinert was to receive $2000 cash and a $4000 mortgage. The deed was sent to an abstract office without instructions concerning the mortgage. Gary received the deed and instead of a $4000 mortgage to Reinert, a $2500 mortgage was given to a party in Los Angeles.
The Orange County Celery Growers' Association met at Smeltzer and made an important change in the directorate. The number of the board of directors was increased from seven to nine and two representative Japanese were elected to fill the newly created positions. All the present officers of the association were re-elected. An amendment to the constitution of the organization providing for monthly pools instead of a single pool at the close of the season was proposed but was voted down by a decisive majority. The secretary was authorized to employ an auditor to audit the books of the association for the past season. Addresses were made by E. A. Curtis, H. S. Barlow, the peeper, was sentenced to ninety days in jail and Justice Smithwick told him he was sorry the sentence could not be heavier. He withdrew a plea of not guilty and put in a plea of guilty. He explained to Justice Smithwick and District Attorney Davis that the reason he pleaded guilty was not that he was guilty but because he felt certain he would be proven guilty if he was tried. Barlow denied peeping. He said he had quit drinking two weeks ago, joined a church, and was only passing through the yard where he was caught. He said that had he been drinking he would have pleaded guilty and asked no questions. Because in that case he felt that he might be guilty of whatever he might be charged with, but, he says, he had not been drinking. He said he had never been in the yard before. Inasmuch as there are witnesses to the fact that Barlow had been in the yard, inasmuch as Officer Murray and George Spangler watched the man

FULLERTON
Anaheim Union Water Compasary at its pumping plant in Plaone of the best water wells in
California. For sometime
hes of water has been pumpin this well, which means a net
to the company of $18 per day.
Well is worth a mint of money.
Company is getting 1800 inches
or at the division gate up the
Ana River. This is a good
street station in Los Angeles for all
people going to the beaches from the
towns in the eastern valleys and
would be a paying proposition from
the start.
The Artesia Citizens' Association
can furnish the right of way from
Norwalk to Los Alamitos almost free
and the fact that surveyors have
been over the ground the past few
days seems to indicate that Mr. Huntington's return means the building of
the line.
It is proposed to build the line
from Monrovia to Whittier, keeping
to the east bank of the San Gabriel
river. From Whittier the cars would
run over the right of way now being
traversed by the Whittier line to Los
Nietos, thence via Norwalk, Artesia
and Los Alamitos to Bay City. From
that point the cars could alternately
run to Long Beach or Newport Beach.
No bridging of the river is necessary
and the line would open up a great
deal of virgin territory.
ACCIDENTALLY SHOT
Former Resident Badly Injured near Bakersfield
Al Litten was called to Bakersfield
on Saturday by receipt of a telegram
bringing the erroneous information
that his brother Ira had been accidently shot. He found on arrival
in the Kern county town that it was
his brother-in-law, Henry Devinney,
not his brother, who was the victim
of the accident. He returned Monday. Reports from the injured man's
bedside are that while he is badly
injured he has a good chance to re-cover.
