SCIENTISTS COMING TUESDAY
DEMONSTRATION TRAIN WILL ARRIVE APRIL 20TH AT 12.45 P.M.
Meeting at the Depot from 1 O'clock to 3, to Which Public Is Invited—No Meeting In Evening—Three Cars Containing Valuable Exhibits, Illustrating Points In Discussion—Coach Provided for Lecture Room
The agricultural and horticultural demonstration train will arrive in Anaheim on Tuesday next, April 20, at 12.45 p.m. A meeting will be held at the train, which will be run upon a siding at the Southern Pacific depot, from 1 to 3 o'clock. To this meeting the public is invited, and an especial invitation is extended to farmers from the entire countryside to attend. There will be no evening meeting, much to the regret of our people, who had confidently looked forward to such an event. The one criticism of the demonstration train is that there has been a notable lack of information regarding its movements. The train leaves Los Angeles on Monday morning and visits superintendent department extension in agriculture; W. Shaw, cereal department; R. H. Loughridge, soil tillers; Professor E. Neff, conductor institutes in Southern California join the train here and it upon its local itinerary.
While it is disappointing have a longer stay of the it is urged that as many of the people of north county be at the depot the exhibits and hear the work of the scientist nying the train is of far-reaching importance. The value of cannot be overestimated.

The train leaves Los Angeles on Monday morning and visits Compton, Downey and Whittier, spending the night at the latter place. The next day (Tuesday, the 20th) is devoted to Norwalk, Buena Park, Anaheim and Santa Ana. Following is the schedule for the day: Arrive at Norwalk, 7.30 a.m., meeting from 8 to 10; arrive at Buena Park 10.15, meeting from 10.30 to 12.30; arrive Anaheim 12.45, meeting from 1 to 3; arrive at Santa Ana, 3.20, meetings from 3.30 to 5.30 and 7.30 to 9.30.
On Wednesday the train visits at Smeltzer and Los Alamitos, arriving at the former place at 8 o'clock and the latter at 10.30. Two hours will be devoted to each place.
Leaving Orange county the train goes to Fernando, Burbank and north over the coast route, stopping at Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Barbara and other places.
The University of California and the State Horticultural Commission through scientific and practical men will have delivered at stopping points lectures on methods to be pursued in increasing the value of agriculture, horticulture, live stock raising, dairying, poultry raising and kindred industries. It is the aim to make these meetings practical. Discussion is invited; questions asked will be answered.
The equipment of the train will include three cars containing valuable and comprehensive exhibits to be used in illustrating and demonstrating the points brought forth in the discussions. There will also be a coach for use as lecture room, where no hall is available.

Holiday Sports for Old and Young at Athletic Park, Santa Ana—Program of Interesting Events—Picnic Lunch
For the first annual field and track meet of the Orange County Y.M.C.A., which will be held at Santa Ana on Saturday, May 1, a program has been prepared which includes features that will be of interest alike to old and young, whether as contestants or spectators.
One of the unique features of the morning program, beginning at 10 o'clock, will be competitive games for children, such as "prisoner's base," "three deep," "duck on the rock," "tug of war," "potato race," etc. For the "old-timers" there will be a wheelbarrow race, fat men's race and other contests of time-honored character and interest. The committee expects a large crowd for this all-day holiday event, and suggests the attendance of the entire family together with picnic lunch to be enjoyed in a social hour with the crowd are included in the day.

All the place made vacant by recent resignation of Adolph the directors of the cham-commerce at their regular Monday evening elected J. Ahlborn as a member of the board. The new director was on the paving committee with Bald and Dietrich as the other members.

The county athletic committee includes R. H. Wallace of Orange, Dr. W. H. Wickett of Anaheim, J. S. Urschel of Villa Park, W. L. Jencks of Garden Grove and E. J. Abar of Orange. Officials in charge of the field and track contests for this event are as follows: Stuart R. H. Blee; referee, G. W. Braden with M. E. Cooper assistant; judges of field, E. E. Wilson, C. A. Langworthy, C. W. Harrison; timers, R. J. Blee, A. Solomon, T. H. Wilson; judges of weights, Dr. W. H. Wickett, D. Brunton, G. W. Leggett; inspectors, W. A. Bartlett, George Holditch, J. A. Knapp, H. Day; clerk of course, R. H. Wallace; assistant clerk, W. L. Jencks; announcer, William Sloan.
One of the objects of the Y.M.C.A. county committee is the promotion of clean athletics and to bring together every section and community in Orange county into pleasant social contact along the line of honored sports and recreative amusements.
The committee is very anxious that all events shall be evenly and fairly contested and that no one shall be relegated to the grand stand, but that everybody may have an equal chance, so in the boys' events weight and age will be considered. Following events

Sycamore lodge was again awarded the blue ribbon for attendance,
having twenty-six members present
in the afternoon. Sixty-two members
attended the afternoon session.
In the evening Sycamore lodge
held its meeting and initiated three
candidates. At the close of the meeting an appetizing supper was served
above stairs, the tables being prettily decorated in pink and green, the colors of the order.

Anaheim's seventh Market Day will occur on Saturday next, at the Deutsch tract, where consumer and producer will come together and do business. Farmers are requested to bring in their produce, live stock, poultry, etc., and buyers will be on hand to pay highest market prices for articles offered for sale. Merchants will offer special reductions on all lines. A manager will be on the ground and an auctioneer will be ready with his services for those who desire them. The committee in charge of arrangements is composed of Herman Stern, Henry M. Adams and W. P. Quarton. These gentlemen are making a special effort to make the day the most successful yet attempted in the series of market days so far arranged for this city. Representatives of outside commission houses will be present for the purpose of purchasing all products.
EASTER PARTY
Mrs. U. S. Lemon entertained her Sunday school class at her home on North Los Angeles street Saturday afternoon.
An exciting Easter egg hunt was a feature of the afternoon's program. Miss Marie Schumacher located the most hidden eggs.
Refreshments were served on the lawn.
The class include Harriet Gade, Martha Wipperman, Ethel Reed, Edna Mills and Marie Schumacher.
John Deryder of the west side contemplates leaving shortly with his family for Los Angeles to reside.
