ANAHEIM ENTERTAINS VISITING CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEN
Association of Civic Bodies Forms Permanent Organization and Elects Officers — Favors Motor Service Between Anaheim, Westminster and Huntington Beach — Banquet Held
Seldom in the history of Orange county was so pleasant a gathering arranged as the meeting on Wednesday evening last at the Commercial hotel of representatives of chambers of commerce of the county, who assembled with a view to forming an association of the civic bodies of the county. The delegates were met by representatives of the chamber of commerce of this city, and forty sat down to an elaborate banquet. Those present represented this city, Santa Ana, Orange, Fullerton, Newport, Huntington Beach, Westminster and Talbert. Delegates were also looked for from Garden Grove and Laguna, but these were unable to be present. When the visitors had been extended, a hospitable welcome, they were escorted to the banquet room, where a tempting repast was spread for their delectation.
After the banquet a business meeting was held. The committee on organization reported and offered a constitution and by-laws, which were adopted.
The meeting ratified the election of the president, W. W. Wilson of Newport, and the secretary-treasurer, Carl Jorn of Orange, which selections had been made at the last meeting, and proceeded to the election of a vice president. Art. V. Duties of the President

The association voted to support the petitions which will be circulated in Anaheim, Westminster, Huntington Beach, Newport and intervening stations on the Southern Pacific for the establishment of a motor service over the line.
The next meeting of the association will be held at Fullerton April 28, beginning at 7 o'clock.
The constitution and by-laws adopted by the association are as follows:
Constitution—Art. I. Name
Section 1. The name of this association shall be "The Associated Chambers of Commerce of Orange County."
Art. II. Objects
Section 1. The object of this association shall be to organize and establish a central or executive committee composed of representatives of one commercial organization of each city, town or community in Orange county, for the purpose of cooperating in accomplishing the common object for which such organizations were inaugurated and for the further purpose of promoting harmonious and amicable relations existing between every section of Orange county.
Art. III. Membership
Section 1. The membership of this association shall be composed of two voting members from each chamber of commerce, board of trade or improvement association of each incorporated city or town in the county and one voting member from each chamber of commerce, board of trade or improvement association in each unincorporated city, town or community.
Art. VII. Committee
Section 1. Temporary and committees, by vote of the association, can be appointed inside side of the organization.
Art. IX. Vacancies
Section 1. Any organization sented in this association may cancies in the representation organization.

Art. XI. Amendments

Section 1. Regular meeting be held once every month, on last Wednesday of such month the following places, in alphabetical rotation: Anaheim, Fullerton Huntington Beach, Newport Beach Orange, Santa Ana.
Provided, however, that by reality vote of the members of this organization, a meeting be suspended, not longer than a month.

Section 1. However, at this first election or appointment, one member shall be elected or appointed for one year and the other for two years, so that thereafter one member will be in office when a new member is elected.
Section 2. The dues shall be $1 per month, or $10 per annum, payable in advance, from each organization having two representatives, and 50 cents per month, or $5 per annum, payable in advance, from each organization having one representative.
Expenses and benefits to be shared equally according to representation.
Section 3. Each representative shall have one vote, which may be cast by proxy, given in writing, by a member from his home organization only.

ALMOND GROWERS ORGANIZE
California Orchardists to Come In for Better Marketing
Responsive to expressions of approval from different parts of the state, The California Promotion committee has called a meeting of the almond growers of California for the purpose of taking steps looking toward the formation of a state association of growers in the interests of the almond industry of California. The meeting is to be held on May 7th at Del Monte, Monterey county, where on the following day will be held the eleventh semi-annual meeting of the counties committee of the California Promotion committee.
Says the committee in its call:
"Impressive demonstration has been given to the success of organization, of co-operative effort, in lines horticultural, agricultural, industrial, commercial, and financial in California. Many advantages might be gained in united action in selling, in eliminating competitive selling among growers. In the purchase of supplies, in the discussion of methods in care of orchards, curing crops and kindred questions that enter into the business. For instance, "Dust Spraying" in orchards is a live question for discussion."
The two meetings, together with that of the secretaries' association of California, composed of the executive officers of commercial bodies of the state, which will meet after the counties committee gathering, will send to Del Monte representative men from all over the state, and the delegates to the meeting of the almond growers, by attendance at the counties committee gathering the following day, will be enabled to take advantage of the special fare and one

The committee for some time has been studying the advisability and feasibility of effecting a strong organization, state wide in its scope,

Through the recommendation of Andrea Sbarbaro, president of the grape growers of California, Senator Price of Sonoma county introduced the following resolution, which was adopted by the unanimous vote of both the senate and the assembly, just before the legislative adjournment last week:
"Whereas, The state of California is now becoming pre-eminently a grape-growing state, where wine can be produced as cheaply, of as fine a quality and in as large quantities, as in any country in the world; and whereas, there are at the present time over 250,000 acres of land in the state of California devoted to the viticultural industry, representing an investment of over $100,000,000; and, whereas, a very desirable class of people are coming into this state and taking up the improvement of vast areas of land which have hitherto been productive and of little value, planting vineyards on land absolutely unsuited for any other purpose and hoping to find a market for

Resolved, By the senate of the state of California, the assembly concurring, that we strongly recommend the encouragement of the viticultural industry in this state, and we favor the enactment of legislation, either by the federal government or by the state legislature, or the passage of regulations or ordinances by any of the counties, cities or towns of the state, that would foster this most important industry, which is destined, if properly encouraged and cared for, to be one of the greatest industries of the state."
