Judge West this week committed George Primmer of Garden Grove to the insane asylum at Patton on the finding of the physicians, Drs. Bruner and Barnes, called to examine Primmer. Primmer a few days ago sharpened a knife and said he would kill someone before night, and was arrested while wandering over the fields near Berrydale. The causes of his loss of mind were ill health and worry. Deputy Sheriff Wilson started for Patton with Primmer on Monday. He is 59 years of age.

It is a wonderful flesh builder and so easy to digest that the youngest child and most delicate adult can take it. If you are losing flesh from consumption or any other cause take Scott's Emulsion. It will stop the wasting and strengthen the whole system.

It is announced that President Taft has accepted invitations which will take him to Chicago, Denver, the Pacific coast and possibly Alaska. Evidently the president is intending not only to keep up his reputation for knowing things at first hand by personal investigation, as far as possible, but intends also to set his cabinet the example. Trips have been announced already for the secretaries of war, of the interior, of agriculture and commerce and labor, to investigate the administration of the affairs under their immediate control. It is well for the members of the cabinet to keep in touch with the people in all sections of the country and to learn from them direct their wishes and difficulties as well as their criticisms of the conduct of the various departments of the national government.

It is announced that Secretary Dickinson of the war department will go to Panama at his earliest convenience and that he will occupy a private stateroom upon a public liner, and not pre-empt a war vessel. This would seem to indicate that traveling by the cabinet officers under the new regime is to be conducted along simpler lines than has heretofore been the case.
In spite of the pressure that has been brought to bear on Secretary Wilson of the department of agriculture, to have him refer the whole question of bleached flour, branded by the department as adulterated, to the referee board of the department which recently permitted the use of benzoate of soda condemned by Dr. Wiley and clamored for by many of the food packers, bleached flour continues under the ban.
The Sixty-first congress is confronted with anything but child's play in the stupendous undertaking of revising the tariff. And to this delicate task is added its concomitant, that of enacting a law to create sources of additional revenue required to meet the growing expenditures of the nation, and it is of vital importance that this law shall not impose undesirable burdens on the average American citizen. The sixty-first congress is not to be envied its complicated and delicate tasks.
Hank Seymour, a well-known local character at the county seat, is serving a sentence of fifteen days in jail for contempt of court. Probably will be the first man to receive appointment office under the Taft administration. When first notified by Flint that he could have an attorney generalship he had to accept, as it has been decided to secure a place on a rural bench. His final decision was largely influenced by fact that this position puts line for appointment to juveniles.

Engineer Kellogg has a force of workmen engaged at the Olive reservoir, which he will probably complete this week. The reservoir is being constructed for the Santa Ana valley irrigation company and will store night water to be used in daytime.
George Yung, accused of conducting a place near Orange where liquor was sold in defiance of law, was acquitted by a jury in the superior court on Saturday. Yung was arrested a year and a half ago, in a raid made on his winery by District Attorney Davis and a posse of officials. Yung's trial came on in the Orange township court, but a change of venue was granted to the Fullerton township court. He was convicted and appealed his case to the superior court, which granted him a new trial. The case was finally heard last week, and the jurors being unwilling to give credence to the testimony of hired detectives acquitted the accused after brief deliberation.
