Al Litten was so unfortunate as to wrench his back while at work in his blacksmith shop Monday afternoon, and was compelled to go home for recuperation. Richard Krebs was in town on Tuesday from Azusa, where he is engaged in the wine-making business. Mr. Krebs was for years foreman of the Dreyfus winery here and later held a similar position with E. J. Baldwin's winery at Santa Anita. He is one of the best wine-makers in the state, and is prospering. They had been to Los Angeles attending the theater and returned on the midnight train. They procured their buggy at a livery and started to drive home, when the incident referred to occurred on East Center street. Mr. Whiting paid no attention to the hobo's calls and drove home without further mishap. Mrs. Newell and Misses Ella and Mary Barnes of Pittsburg are guests of Judge and Mrs. Shanley. Turner, publisher of the La Veta, Col., Advertiser, is here, accompanied by his wife and ten-year-old son. Mr. Turner is an old-time friend of the Kincaid brothers and will remain here for a few days visit with them. This is his first trip to the land of sunshine, and it is made for the benefit of his wife's health. He reports several feet of snow in Colorado and below-zero weather. He will remain with his family in Southern California for the winter. Edward Backs was badly cut on the forehead one day recently while playing on the grammar school grounds, and several stitches were required to close the wound. Eddie was running and collided with Julius Miller, a schoolmate, who was also injured about the head. F. W. Fleischmann is making notable improvements on his place north west of town. A well 300 feet deep recently finished is pumping 100 inches of water. The west side of the tract is being leveled and the ranch will be set to oranges. Stone, and brother, Charles Stone, of Fullerton. Tom spent his school days in Anaheim, and has been absent thirty years. He was here five years ago, and sees many changes in his old stamping ground. He is in the news and stationery business at Merced, and is prospering. Schumacher & Schneider of the Palace Meat Market are installing a new refrigerator of ten-tons' capacity, to replace the old one. The machinery will be installed the first of the week. The refrigerator can be operated to contain double the amount of meat now calculated to be used, but at present the machinery will be gauged for ten tons. The firm finds this new improvement necessary on account of its constantly increasing trade.
