Conductor Leonard of the San Diego express, who sustained a stroke of paralysis at Oceanside while on his run some days ago, is in critical condition at the railroad hospital in Los Angeles. According to reports received here he will probably not be able to resume his position. As he walked on ahead they followed him, but he maintained his lead and was not further molested. An evening or two later while walking on Broadway, he was confronted by a stranger who said: "I want to see you." Bob responded that he did not wish to converse with him and continued on his way home. Bob promises to perforate the next prowler who molests him and we look for work for the coroner to do on repetition of the offense. Some weeks ago it was Jack the Hugger a young lady having been hugged and otherwise insulted by a ruffian on East Center street while taking a walk early in the evening. Her screams brought neighbors to her assistance, and the hugger made off in the darkness. Now it is Jack the Peeper. Wm. Schwenckert some evenings ago entertained the operators, clerks and linemen employed by the Sunset telephone company at his home on West street. A feature of the evening was the rendition of a graphaphone concert program, the instrument being manipulated by Jos. Helmsen. The guests were carried to and from the residence in carriages and a very enjoyable evening was participated in Refreshements were served, and at a late hour the guests departed, voting Mr. and Mrs. Schwenckert and Miss Wehmeyer, the latter's sister, gracious hosts, and Mr. Helmsen the most expert graphaphone artist in the land. The Grace Evangelical Lutheran church of Anaheim, which was organized a short time ago, has filed articles of incorporation. The trustees of the new church are August F. Gutzmann, Gustav Martens, Hermann Gust, Ernest Schroeder and Wilhelm Wohlgemuth. Mr. Wohlgemuth is president of the board and Emil Heinze is secretary.
